How to get around Nassau during your trip to the Bahamas? We used a combination of Taxis and public transportation to get around the Island. But the main thing is to select you Hotel or AirBNB close to Junkanoo Beach / downtown Nassau, Bahamas because most of the attractions are walking distance from there. Junkanoo beach is not the most beautiful beach on the Island but it is the one that is the most popular because it is in the middle of downtown.
The Pirates of Nassau Museum in Nassau Bahamas is a place we liked visiting because it gives you factual information about the Pirates. If you think you know everything about Pirates because you watches Hollywood movies, well you might learn a think or two there.
Lukka Kairi Restaurant where you will Experience unique contemporary coastal cuisine & handcrafted cocktails while enjoying panoramic views of Nassau's historical Harbour. The food there is pricy and it is okay. We when there for the vibe and for the views as well. Eating over the water was a really great experience.
Nassau, Bahamas spent $300 million upgrading their cruise port, which is referred to as Prince George Wharf, with the first phase of this redevelopment opening to the public on May 27, 2023.
The port is now able to accommodate up to six cruise ships per day, including three Oasis or Icon Class ships. This means that Nassau is now able to host 30,000 cruise passengers per day, increasing their capacity by 10,000. By the end of 2024, it is estimated that Nassau will see four million cruise visitors.
You have to visit the Straw Market as well it is the best place to buy souvenirs for your loved ones and for yourself. Prices there are lower than everywhere else and there's a lot of different vendors and a huge choice of items to pick.
If you want to try more local cuisine please visit the Fish Fry it is also walking distance from downtown and it is really the hearth of the city at night. The vibe there is just amazing and the food a great although you will find that food is very expensive in the Bahamas.
NOTE that business close early in the Bahamas. Actually nothing is open after 5pm except a few restaurants. If you are renting a car make sure you understand that you will be driving on the other side of the road.
