So 24 Edmund people voted the CyberTruck as the most ugly vehicle. Yet, it's the best selling $100k+ vehicle, it's beating other EV truck sales, there's a million+ people waiting to buy it, and super rich Hollywood stars are buying them in droves. Either the 24 people at Edmunds are right, or the other MUCH larger group of people buying the truck are right. Hmmmm, I wonder who's right. Hmmmmmm.

Duh you put two handsome or sexy men/women and the results may not be in your favor. For its class the AMG doesn't exactly stand out. The Grand Turismo, LC500, 911, Aston Martin also all look amazing. But KIAs ICE competitors are not that great in general except very recently with the introduction of the new traverse, Pilot, Grand Highlander, Telluride, etc. And against other EVs the EQS is terrible, the Model X still looks okay but nothing great, and the R1S actually looks good but is in a different realm for pricing. In this test they are doing relative ratings. If we were comparing each car to all other cars, the LC500 would win for all cars under 100K lol

Just bought an EV9 Land. It's a fantastic mix of distinct, playfully weird, still extremely functional, and different but not so different as to be uncomfortable. The interior punches still way above its price, even if its price is painfully high in the upper trims. It's not perfect, but it's really good. Plus if you want a 3 row SUV EV that actually fits real humans in the 3rd row, it's the only option right now.

I‘m a little surprised to see all the hate for the EV 9. I think it’s beautiful. I’m partial to boxy cars. I think the Landcruiser is fantastic too in terms of looks.

I agree that the latest BMWs are not attractive. Their designers have gone overboard with boxy edges and cladding and lots of bulky black trim. I’ve seen the EV9 in the metal and it’s a head turner, but I’m not sure it will age well. I would’ve put the Lucid Air in the top five. I think that car has a timeless design and will still look good 20 years from now.

I think the biggest issue with the new BMW 5 series is that it has Front Wheel Drive proportions. The high fender and hood does not match the sport sedans BMW used to make. The last gen BMW 5 series has noticeably sportier stance because of this. I don't know if it was because it was supposed to be a common platform for both EVs and gas vehicles, but it falls apart. Spend the money to make dedicated platforms for each or otherwise we end up with what we have today. The ugliest BMW they have made. EDIT: Oh shit I said it looks like FWD car before the edmund guy said it lol.

They don't only take into consideration what a car looks like for a review, Edmunds also doesn't take into consideration reliability and owner satisfaction. A good example is the VW Taos. Edmunds says it's "great". They are about the only ones to give the Taos that rating. It's reliability and owner satisfaction is among the worst.

Well y’all kinda got it right…the Cyber truck is indeed hard on the eyes and BMW’s latest designs are pure trash. That new 7 is an incredible luxury car, but it should be on the ugly list too. As a previous E46 coupe, F10, and current F06 owner, it really pains me to have to say that. As far as the best looking cars, the list is good but no way is that Kia better looking than the Maserati or the AMG. I think “car guys” think it sounds less “car guyish” to state the obvious - that a 2 door sports car looks better than a boxy suv

Cybertruck is the most beautiful car on the market today. I had a choice between a 992 GT3 RS and a Cybertruck and got the CyberBeast at only $100K over sticker. Best car I’ve ever had.

7:33 I do think there are some redeeming elements in there. like the light bar at the front is a nice shape and....... okay maybe it's one redeeming element. but yeah, over all, I can't stand it. The part I dislike the most, is the "pointy top" because not only does it not work on this truck, it also increases the frontal area, causing a greater drag force, reducing range. If I had to estimate I'm guessing if the truck had a more traditional roof it could do 350 miles of range with no other changes. that's the opposite of good design. Good design will take an engineering requirement and make it look seamless or even beautiful. This makes the car look worse, and hurts performance.

Yes, I think this is fun. A completely subjective judgement, so unserious. I think a lot of people have a hard time with other people having different taste. I get it if you don’t like the EV 9 but taking the leap to there being some kind of conspiracy where KIA paid them seems just silly. Even though I love the EV 9’s boxy looks I can definitely see how it would not be everyone’s cup of tea. I can even see how some would love the looks of the Cybertruck.

But guys, I HAVE seen something like the cybertruck before. In at least 1 of the Mad Max movies (admittedly the psycho cannibal gangsters were festooned all across it's rusted & weaponized body) but pretty sure it started out a cybertruck. Also sure both moon/Mars sci-fy movies & Nasa footage of the moon & Mars have shown space rovers that also look like this. Elon's just obsessed w/ Mars (IMHO).

I have to agree that BMW is winning the race to ugly, I've had several and still own a 335IC manual, however all the new ones are just ugly. I'm sure they will come to their senses eventually and start building beautiful cars again. As far as the cyber truck goes, I've seen some of the wrapped ones and it looks a lot better with color. I like it better than the BMW's.

Although I may disagree with some of your decisions, I'm glad that Edmunds did this video. I say this because although you guys don't factor in looks in your evaluations, almost every consumer does. As a consumer, no matter how great the BMWs may be in your objective tests, I would never buy one even though I can afford it. They are ugly and your objective test literally mean nothing to me. Given the cost of these vehicles, the styling matters, it matters A LOT, when spending that kind of money. So, I submit for consideration that you consider the styling of vehicles in your evaluations, particularly expensive ones. Oh, and your best styling vehicle is exactly the type of vehicle a bunch of practially minded people would select. Although interesting, it's not attractive enough for me to purchase at the still too expensive prices of EVs. They are not coming down fast enough and for 80% of the world a highly impractical purchase. I wish more automotive magazines acknowledge how esoteric these vehicles still are for the general public outside of California.

There is one very important factor when you rate the design of the car is how the design will age. The main issue with Kia/Hyundai's design is they don’t age well. The Italian or German don’t strike at a glance but they age very well. AND HERE WHERE THE ART COMES

There is a certain ugliness to form over function and that makes the Cybertruck uglier to me. It is striking though, when that shiny thing goes down the road it really turns my head. It looks better when moving as you can’t see all the fingerprints. I think there are uglier BMW’s to show, they’ve made some stunningly ugly SUV EV’s. I’d still buy an ugly car if the design allowed it to function well. At least theoretically I think I would. If I could get a BMW iX XDrive50 for about half price I could enjoy the performance and live with the hideous looks.
