"I’ve loved my time at KGB Pvt Ltd. over 20 months of my work here. I have grown as an individual and professional. However due to the impact of COVID-19 on our business, the company had to go into cost cutting mode. This is where I have lost my job. The company has assured me that as soon as they are hiring again, I would be reconsidered on priority, but the timeline for the same is uncertain. Yes that could happen depending on which company you are interviewing at. It sure is a disadvantage. For larger more organised companies they will pay as per their salary band (though there is often room for negotiation). I would recommend building some leverage by hinting that you are unemployed but not out of options. So basically it would be a factor of does the hiring company see it as a situation where they would lose you if they do not pay well.
