For US residential chief architect is to me one of the simpler and best, for more modern block and concrete non American structures I like Archicad better !

Don't be fooled. Cheif architect seems cool but their price tag $2000/yr is absurd. Revit depending on your usage you can start using it for $300 for 100 days.
