Who wouldve thought Iowa Colony would become something unless you are familiar with the area possibly Fresno , Manvel, Rosharon , Pearland transplants you would drive right pass it .. nice! The fear is will the once small quiet quaint area lose its uniqueness by pop growth its gonna be another Pearland once rural now becoming too populated .. but then again Houston pop growth is skyrocketing we are going further and further outside the Loop. Anyways , good video.

How does the homestead exemption work? Is that just something that is filled out during tax season?

Hi @jessica23606! - Texas Home exemptions remove part of your home's value from taxation, so they lower your taxes. For example, your home is appraised at $300,000, and you qualify for a $40,000 exemption (this is the amount mandated for school districts), you will pay school taxes on the home as if it was worth only $260,000... As of Sept. 2021 you now are able to apply for your Tx Home Exemption just as soon as the purchase of your home has been recorded by the Local County Tax office, which is typically done within 30 days after you close on your house... Well, in this particular video I visited/toured 2 different communities, but the bulk of the video was shot in the fabulous Master Planned Community of Meridiana! Yes, there is an annual HOA Fee. The fee varies dependent on whether or not you live in a gated section or not. On average, the non-gated sections current annual HOA fee is $1250.00. Iowa Colony is a step up from Alvin, I feel like Alvins crime is just getting worse every year, Especially Alvin High school my kid tells me there is a fight almost everyday there and just today a kid stabbed a coach at Alvin Jr High.
