Your number 3 would be my number one, because the sound for movies and music is amazing and the base on it is through the roof !!! so you don't need a sub woofer, it is the true meaning of a sound bar because there are no other speakers needed at all !!! and luckily I can afford the $2500 cost.

I have to say the Sennheiser is Top 1 for me. What Sennheiser did in just one soundbar is just amazing. All others are not really soundbars with all those separate speakers and subs. Why not buying a regular 7.1.4 or 5.1.4 sound system? You‘ll get better results and pay about the same money. Just my opinion of course.

Great video guys! My comment and it’s not a knock on Nakamichi but the speakers being wired to the sub and the speaker set up is odd to me to get the atmos effect plus the main LCR doesn’t have up firing drivers. I can see why the Q90R took first place even for convenience, is not having the second sub really a knock on the Q90R?

I recently bought the Q90r. I had high hopes but it’s failing to deliver. The connectivity issues are real. To the point it’s completely unusable. I tested the first purchase for 30 days. Updated firmware. Repositioned all my other wireless devices to eliminate possible interferences and finally swapped it out for another Q90r. Same issue all over again. Called Samsung support and they wanted me to send in to their repair center. Nope! Not after spending $1600. The second one is going back to Best Buy tomorrow. Guess I’ll wait for another high end option to come out with Atmos and EARC.

I hate to be a stickler here but most of the products in this review really shouldn't be in this review. I'm sure the Nakamichi sounds fantastic but it's not really a sound bar, it's a home theater speaker system that has a soundbar for a center speaker. Even your winner is really a soundbar plus a sub-woofer plus rear speakers. The Bose soundbar is just a soundbar, the Sonos Playbar is just a sound bar, the Sonos Beam is just a sound bar.

@@GearlyReviews I just find it very difficult to invest in a digital surround speaker for 2,500$ when you could get much better audio quality from a actual 5.1.4 setup, and somewhat go all out with it. That one blows my mind a little...the Ambeo soundbar that is. You really are looking for only rich consumers, or folks that are minimalists and want things to look good, and not necessarily perform up to the price but give them somewhat a decent experience, otherwise I'm not sure who's that for at that price.

Nothing that I love more than... The best of test comparisons. I think sound bars are a brilliant concept. Especially for those who either don't have the space, nor want the hassle of separates. But, being from my era, where today to much emphasis gets put on... convenience, so many will lose out on what phenomenal sound really is. And that's a shame. For, no matter how great the picture is, if the sound doesn't move you, envelope you, then you'll always come away, slightly disappointed. Great article.

Hi I have had my Yamaha YSP 5600 for about a year now and I am very impressed with it’s performance. This is Yamaha’s flagship soundbar but it is actually a sound projector and it’s the only one of its kind really. I know that this product is not new to the market and it’s been available for few years, but it somehow remains in the top 10 of recommended soundbars. I know it comes with a hefty price tag and the need of an additional subwoofer which is sold separately perhaps these are a few reasons why people turn away from this, but I do not know of any soundbar out there that lets you actually balance your speakers using a sound lever meter to get the reference level of 75 dB. I would also like to mention this gives you a 7.2.1. with Dolby Atmos and DTS-X with a download upgrade. It also supports 4K but unfortunately not HDR but if you send the video signal to your TV and the sound through the YSP-5600 you will be fine.

All I see is a bunch of stock footage overlaid by someone reading the marketing hype page for each product and then "selecting" a set of winners by what you think has the best spec sheet. It looks good, sounds really good - even when playing music via Bluetooth (I was worried about that), and set up was a breeze. Literally chose location, plugged in, and turned it on. It worked. I've been tempted to go up to the 9.2 for the extra speakers - but this is fine, especially for the value. Got it for $820 with 3 year protection off Amazon.

I have to say I have the Q90r and although its not a bad soundbar i find that with atmos it struggles to properly simulate "height channels". i also have found that unless you are running specifically atmos content and or a device that directly decodes atmos you will not get any sound from the rear speakers. If you downgrade for example to Dolby Digital or a 5.1 signal the soundbar does not upscale content and instead it all comes out the bar and the rears aren't used at all.Furthermore as others have said sometimes the sound just up and cuts out for no reason at all, although the firmware has improved this issue it hasn't gotten rid of it entirely. Although its the best Samsung has had so far and most will be impressed I have ordered a Nakamichi and I'm selling the Q90r because I feel the immersion is not quite where I personally want it to be.

During the thumps the Samsung could barely register them. Do you have any advice on the Nakamichi?, should I perhaps wait until Atmos is more adopted into sound bars? My parents have a Bose 300 and I went from a Sonos to the Samsung and now I'm back to the Sonos temporarily. Out of all three the Sonos fills a room the best but Bose has the best immersion using Phase Guide and Samsung may have some Atmos effect but it's not very noticeable tbh. Thanks for the quick reply btw 👌

So I got a Nakamichi and im honestly surprised you did not award it the top spot but i think i know why. Its because for Atmos although its comes very close to excellence it does not handle the 3d effect or height channels quite as well as the Q90R does. There is a different sort of feel to the sound signature. However the overall sound signature on the Nakamchi is better imo and especially in the bass. Samsung needs to really up their bass game and take notes from other manufactures. I have only had the Nakamichi 3 days but I already like it better then the Samsung Q90R. I can see why the top pick was such a tough choice. The Nakamichi does have some caveats as well but not enough for me to second guess purchasing it.I returned the Samsung and made the switch. id love to be more detailed about it but no one likes long posts LOL.

I can always check out your other reviews and if I have tried out some of the other devices or soundbars I'd be happy to give feedback on it to start. @Jorel Boston an excellent question! First there is a 2-3 second sound delay between pausing or starting up content Because there are no dedicated height channels for Atmos you have to create them yourself which may or may not work with Ur set up. And if you don't make them you won't get em so instead of Atmos you will have a more surround sound experience. The system once past volume 20 increase in double or triple increments making the increase way too significant and sometimes too powerful. Depending on where you are two subs may be abit too much power. There are minor handshake issues with hdmi arc and depending on your tv it can be manageable or downright annoying. Wires and although this may not be a big deal for some people it can be for others. Two wires going out the back of your subs for the rear speakers making them not wireless like most systems. Music just doesn't work well on the nakamichi. At least I didn't like the way it sounded. The system is very large and it doesn't fit into everyone's space. There is not Earc. Which may not be important now but it will be next year. If you fanacy wi fi music streaming this music doesn't do it. You have to use Bluetooth which is up converted and then if you force it put into all the speakers. Still its not connected to the web so updates need to be done the old fashioned way. Not a big deal for me but some may not like that If I missed anything I'm sure it's in my two reviews under the Nakamichi review where I do one full on review and a comparison to the Q90R as well. Cheers. Feel free to ask about anything your not sure about here or there. Ps Rtings gave this system a 7.1/10 I believe which I wholeheartedly disagree with but hey everyones experience will vary.

@@0_Chan_Dung I used basic 30 inch tall Sanus stands. In my set up I have had to tweak things slightly and I have my speakers on four stands to work with the space I have. My couch is quite tall and can get in the ay of sound. Since I do not have the extra space behind it I put the rear speakers in the normal position behind me and the surrounds in elevation mode flat to the left and right sides of the middle of the couch. It's the Hybrid 1 set up I think? . And I found for my room this set up works best. It also depends on what sound signature you want though. Do you care about atmos?, how do you want sound to bounce around the room?, how much space do you have to work with. If you have the space you can have a Pioneer surround sound system for $1,800 (5.2.2) that will be better than any of these soundbars. Soundbars are mostly for people that don't want to take up space in my opinion. Or a smaller Pioneer surround system for $1,200 (5.2) that will still be better than the soundbars, but not as good as you could get for for $600 more. Especially if you are going to use it for gaming, having a fully wired system can make a difference because of latency.

I can’t recommend any Samsung product until they support Dolby Vision. I’m sure this soundbar is great but if, like most TVs, the only HDMI that can support full 4K HDR is also the ARC port then the Samsung is a non-starter. Newer TVs with HDMI 2.1 on all ports won’t have this problem but lots of older 4K TVs do.

@@Kashif314 No not necessarily HDMi 2.0b can't push full 4K with a reasonable refresh rate of 60 Hz. Because of it's bandwidth limitations. So you can choose a form of compression or go for a lower refresh rate of 30 Hz to compensate, and if you want HDR 8/10/ 12 bit you have to compensate even more. So if you just watch tv and movies the compression isn't that noticeable. But on a PC monitor or something it is and that's what HDMI 2.1 will solve. Finally we can have full 4K 4:4:4 up to 120 Hz with 12 bit HDR before hitting the max bandwidth and it also has new features like Variable refresh rate, low latancy, EARC, QMS, QFT, etc. So if you want 8K you again have to compromise.

@@Kashif314 Idd the transfer from HD to 4K is slow for many reasons but nonetheless if you buy a new TV it's going to be a 4K one even on a budget because most manufactures stopped making big HD panels today the production cost is the same and they even loose money when making both. Then there's also the " 4K" labeled content that most people watch and it's streamed. And has "terrible quality" compared to the real thing. So 4K doesn't seem much off an improvement. On the other hand that content requires a lot off space (30 - 60 GB for a movie) and a beefy internet connection but it's available even with 10- 12 bit HDR and dolby atmos. And your right this is going to take a lot off time. Most people haven't even seen the full potential of Full HD and confuse Blue ray HD quality with 4K ;) but there also right because it looks way better then the 4K streamed content.
