Nice bike man! I owned the 2017 GSXR 1000 and now I have the 2018 1000R. I wanted to share some information about the S-DMS and power for anybody who's curious. Basically, it is drive-by-wire and the 3 modes (A, B, and C) adjust the throttle response. "A" mode is a 1:1 mapping of throttle input to throttle valve position. B and C have a curve applied to them so that throttle valve position lags behind throttle input under given RPM conditions so that its not so aggressive. Some what related is the claim about gaining ~20 hp. The bike starts at 199 hp at the crank on an unrestricted throttle map. The US bikes seem to have a throttle clamp so they lose a lot of that power on the top end and don't actually reach full potential. Under high throttle load, the ECM will clamp the throttle to ~70% at ~11k RPM and beyond. The "ECM unlocking" people refer to on these bikes is removing that throttle clamp so that >70% throttle can be maintained at high RPM. Brock's performance did a video about it on their 2017 1000R, it's pretty neat if you get a chance to check it out. Enjoy the bike, and stay safe dude!
@itsmeericb4 жыл бұрын
Heck yeah man this is awesome info! Appreciate it! That explains a lot with the power modes. So my ECU was sent to Superbike Unlimitied and flashed with the Slip-On and K&N air filter. The guy I bought it from said it is a screamer up top and he wasn’t lying. He was about 220 or 230lbs and I am 175. It’s a monster in in A mode up top. Down low A and B feel the same under 10k rpm. With my flash I wonder how much power I gained?
@CodyDBentley4 жыл бұрын
@@itsmeericb I'm not sure how much the air filter will affect performance, but the slip on probably wont make much difference. The stock muffler is actually really good, and most of the engineering that really affects the performance is the headers through cat section. But that throttle restriction being removed will definitely make a noticeable difference. According to Brock's Performance dyno tests on the stock bike, it makes 160hp@11k RPM to the wheel stock, and 176hp@13k RPM with just the throttle limiter removed (while also carrying higher hp through the rest of the RPM range over stock). I'd suggest checking out Brock's Performance videos on the bike, I learned a LOT about the bike from watching them. He does a ton of dyno testing with different configurations to see what works and what doesn't and documented it all on KZbin: kzbin.info/aero/PLvkxQRU0UbXJCqLIKJbKeyTFEFlWWwuc6

No need to hold the starter button in either. Press it once and it'll cycle until it starts. That's the primary starting system, if your battery voltage is low it won't turn over at all using the SES system, the you can still start it with the secondary system - pulling in the clutch and holding the starter. It should even start on the secondary system even with a battery output less than 12 volts

I love the revision of the 2017 gsxr 1000 headlight and digital dash. With your honest opinion. Will driving in C mode dull it down enough for a newbie like me? Also, if you could make a video, doing a comparison of this gsxr 1000 to your 600 or to a 750 while having the 1000 in mode C.
@itsmeericb4 жыл бұрын
Aaron Anderson To be honest C mode on this bike is still fast. It just reduces the throttle response in my opinion. The B mode on a 750 is truly “snail” mode, but on the new 1000 it’s still quick. I would I would go with a 600 if it’s your first bike, but a 750 would work too due to the power modes. Once you get comfortable you can take it out of B mode and you won’t have to upgrade bikes.

Paul Sparks The other thing is that it’s not a crazy expensive bike either. It’s the most bang for the buck.

I was looking at the All black R1... but its sits so uncomfortably high compared to the Gixxer.. the seat is hard as a bricks ...Gixxers really get you spoiled when it comes to comfort... auto Blip what is that? & the miles to empty is a win!
@itsmeericb4 жыл бұрын
The Thinking Man's Templar The R1 isn’t too bad but still not as comfortable as a GSXR. The new GSXR 1000 aren’t as comfortable in my opinion. Autoblip is the down shift with an “autoblip” of the throttle without you manually doing it.

I’m really contemplating on getting a Ducati panigale or a 2017 up GsxR 1000.....but in the future
@itsmeericb4 жыл бұрын
It’s tough and I’ve been on both. The Panigale is a beast but you definitely have to pay to play with Ducati. The GSXR is no slouch and won’t break the bank to maintain it.
@gsxrfrank87874 жыл бұрын
It’s Me Eric B I agree that’s the only downfall I’ve been thinking of the Ducati but my god it’s looks so sexy... but also the GsxR is a sexy beast as well

You really sell the GSXR 1000 2017 to buy the R6? Why?
@itsmeericb2 жыл бұрын
No I sold it for a Yamaha MT-10 then got the R6. The R6 is an amazing bike and is a track weapon. Personal choice.
@namara5002 жыл бұрын
@@itsmeericb okay! Is it true that the GSXR 1000 2017 is small like the R6? I'm short rider and I'm looking for a small size 1000cc supersport.
@itsmeericb2 жыл бұрын
@@namara500 Ehhh the newer 1000 are starting to be the same size as 600s but not all. I don’t think the GSXR is as small. The Ducati Panigale V4 is and maybe a CBR1000RR. The GSXR 1000 isn’t that big though.
