The GMT900 began in 07.5 and ran through 2014 for the 2500hd and 3500 platform. The L96 6.0 engine makes great power and the 6L90 transmission is an incredibly durable piece of equipment that keeps the engine in the powerband. Let me know if you have any questions!

I have a 2012 ltz crew 6.0, nearly identical to this truck. Bought it brand new then and currently only has 68,000 miles. The only thing I've done to the truck as far as mechanical issues has been hub assemblies, brakes, rotors and exhaust manifold replaced. I have a leveling kit on it, larger tires on factory 20s, led lights all around and a single magnaflow muffler and pipe. I don't drive the truck much anymore but when I do, it blows my mind how many people talk about it and even try to buy or trade for it lol! I have an 02 2500hd with 269,371 miles, all original with the 8.1 that still gets drove at least twice a week and my daily driver is my 2022 2500hd with the 6.6 gas and my 2 older trucks are by far my favorite and probably always will be!

I had a neighbor in the foothills near the Seirra Nevada forest who hauled with this same truck, scrap, cars, trucks and cords of oak or pine up to the top of the cab np. he also filled a 10ft iron bull dump trailer full of oak and hauled it up to the high country up steep hills and switchback turns. great trucks!

I found my 2008 2500hd single cab/8ft bed with 200k miles for 4000$cad. Great truck for what I need it to do. Didnt even need a Hd but oh well for the price. Motor/transmission are rock solid and its also very nice for towing and working. Cant beat these trucks for the price. I came from a 2000 tacoma with the 2.7l and that was a gas hog for the power/capacity and size.

Bought an 05 with 160,000for 5000$ and was rear ended and insurance paid me 8000 to fix it which I did myself was just a bumper and damage to my topper and bed were minimal and now has 280,000 and was just hit last week by a tesla and now waiting on quote for more slight damage. No motor or trans problems ever and its about to get me paid again other than the daily 3 hour round trip to work that it helps me to get paid. This truck has been a blessing that keeps on blessing

I have a 2012 with almost 300k miles with original trans and motor. I work the dog crap out of it and it just takes it no matter what I’m doing. I have bounced the rev limiter multiple times (5800 to 6000), pulled over 30k for a long distance and still trust it to go anywhere. I think the GMT 900 with a 6L90 trans is solid

07.5-10 Chevy 6.0s in hd trucks feel the strongest out of all 6.0 generations. The power to weight ratio feels great. In 2011 and 2015 they took a dump. Making the frame and body heavier and not increasing the power of the motor.

GMT 900s were when quality really started getting bad. That's why I went with a 6.2 f250. 220k miles of all off-road oil rig service and 10,000 idle hours with no issues. Meanwhile, the 2013 Silverado 6.0 already has a lifter tick at 75,000 miles, and the interior has fallen apart completely.

My '19 L96 is THIRSTY, but if I do the math the gas only cost about $1000 more than diesel would per oil change. During that time, the diesel would need more expensive maintenance. And that's not counting ridiculous exhaust fluid... 6 speed is definitely a game changer.

12:10 - You can't tell me your truck isn't shifting to 4th and 3rd on hills. Aside from vvt there isn't a whole lot different between an LQ4 and L96. Heads would be a disadvantage because they are designed for higher rpm. Intake might be part of the equation since the later 5.3 intake also makes like 10ft lbs down low. Doesn't make a ton of sense. My 05 2500HD cruises 70mph at about 2500 rpm and at that rpm it should have enough power. If I had to guess it could be due to slight aerodynamic advantage of the GMT900. Still sorta mind-boggling. That said an extra OD and a shorter 1st for my truck would have been amazing. And yes the 1500 6l80e trucks have tcc issues due to them locking up in almsot every gear and when the motor is in CD mode for fuel economy
