Awesome! Hope they make some steel toe foot shape boot! I always have to get boots 1 or 2 sizes larger so my toe is not cramped in the small toe box.

Thanks for this video, just got in my Birkenstock QS 500's in and they paired up perfectly with a set of Xero Shoes athletic insoles. Had to do a lot of checking going back and forth from US and EU sizes. Nailed it combined a 11.5 insole with a 44 size shoe.

Hi there :) I also prefer to wear shoes without socks. I have worn both the BeLenka and the Birkenstocks without socks. The BeLenka are definitely more sockless-friendly as they are actual barefoot shoes. I found the Birkenstocks quite uncomfortable without socks. I would definitely recommend wearing socks with the Birkenstocks

man, i really want to try out those birks but i know that grinding and welding sparks will turn the laces to crust inside a week. cant see a way i could attach some covers to them either as theres no space under it to strap some leather. would love to see something like those birks but maybe with a side zipper and higher laces ;ike the oliver 55-385.

wide load boots are not barefoot, but have very wide toeboxes, they also have zip models

Have you had any experience with Japanese Tabi work boots? They are barefoot, but also with a split big toe. Japanese construction workers swear by them. Japanese shoemaker Soukaido makes a steel-toe model called the VO-80, as well as a steel-toe + anti-pierce sole model called the VO-80F.

Thanks for the info mate!!! No, I want aware of a split toe one. Or of Tabi... I once had a pair of Fugu Sa Ba but found they were too padded and the toe box was too narrow. I'll keep Tabi on my radar and might try them if I'm ever in another gig where I can't get away with the Be Lenkas

@@aaronottobre4865 the Nevada's aren't safety rated... they are not non slip and puncture resistent so putting a steel toe on them wouldn't really make them a safety boot.

@@readlesspraymore4686 correct, however pretty much no-one on a worksite is ever going to ask or inspect that much detail. They'd likely just ask if they're steel cap and if so assume they're fully compliant 👌

@@aaronottobre4865 I appreciate your response. This barefoot thing is complicated. I work in a factory for 11 hours a day, and the mandatory footwear (with steel toes) clearly impacts my health. If you know of any other brands that have models of that style, I would be forever grateful.

Are there any of these that are waterproof? I need boots going into ems and need something waterproof for bodily fluids but I'm curious about transitioning to a barefoot style shoe

Great question and unfortunately I have no idea! The ones mentioned in my video are not waterproof. I know Xero shoes do a bunch of waterproof boots. They're not steel cap though if that matters

Thanks for the reviews. Wish I saw the vid as I bought a pair of the Fugu's. I did size up so hopefully that helps with the toebox. How are your QS700s holding up? I've seen mixed reviews , some peoples hold up well, others have soles delaminating. And did you go with our normal EU size or went up one size?

Thanks mate!! I went standard EU size and they're fine 👌 Soles are holding up beautifully. Only wear that's happening is some of the stitching is loosening on the upper and allowing some small stones to get in which is annoying... Apart from that though, they're going beautifully!! 👌👌

The Birkenstocks or BeLenkas? I believe you can get the Birkenstocks directly from the US. The BeLenkas you might have to get imported. You should be able to find em online though 👌

Any opinions out there on the Birkenstocks between the shoe and the boot version of those with steel toes? My workplace doesn't require boots, just steel toes that are not slip.

@notisac3149 I think the shoe would be better; no chafing on the sides of the ankle bones on either side, more flexibility without the high lace system, more breathable because of the low cut. I just don't know where to order online to ship to central United States.

@@user-ncswic By some miracle I found a site that ships them to the US. If you look up "Zami Shoes" or "zapatillas-minimalistas", It should be the first sire you find. There you can type in the search bar "Birkenstock safety" for their steel toe shoes and boots. (note that they're in European sizes) It was more than I wanted to pay but I'd say it was worth it. The steel toes I had before were killing me. Hopefully my comment doesn't get taken down for copy-pasting lol
