Convid was just the opening act. - and by the way, 'democracy' never was. "Everything is a rich-man's trick". Democracy was an illusion - believed in only by the poor. Misconduct in public office (“MiPO”) is a common law offence that can be tried only on indictment. It carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. The offence concerns serious wilful abuse or neglect of the power or responsibilities of the public office held. There must be a direct link between the misconduct and an abuse of those powers or responsibilities. The Court of Appeal has made it clear that the offence should be strictly confined, and it can raise complex and sometimes sensitive issues. This guidance sets out the key legal elements of the offence and the factors that prosecutors should consider when applying the Code for Crown Prosecutors in cases where MiPO is alleged. Case Handling Prosecutors should refer to the Referral of Cases guidance for the appropriate handling of MiPO allegations. Evidential Considerations The elements of the offence were summarised in Attorney General's Reference No 3 of 2003 [2004] EWCA Crim 868. The offence is committed when: a public officer acting as such wilfully neglects to perform their duty and/or wilfully misconducts themselves to such a degree as to amount to an abuse of the public's trust in the office holder without reasonable excuse or justification

I am not British, but I do feel after watching a lot of this interview, it is more a killing the messenger than clearing the incompetence of the government, all European governments, during the pandemic. Hats off to Britain for even starting it. We can only hope other countries follow suit. It is a period of history that, in my wildest dreams, I never thought could happen.

"have a nice day"? That sounds a bit aggressive while the reply is actually factual. There is a massive difference between Italy and Spain for example, who were confronted out of the blue with nation wide sick people from who most of them died at the beginning. No examples to work with. Opposed Britain where all this kind of information was available but where the government acted 4 to 5 weeks too late where half of Europe already closed down So the poster is right. Have a nice day yourself...

I don't know why so many people are offended by swear words !!! What offends _me_ are actions which result in harm being caused to the general populace, who are only doing their best to live their lives and protect and care for their loved-ones. Words uttered to describe the correct actions suited to any given situation are one thing, but 'cursing' is just another way to express oneself given the heinous behaviours such as those acted out by a 'leader', when they just cannot do the job required of them. In other words, guys (in charge, ie the P.M etc) ...get on with the ******g job we pay you to do, to keep us healthy and fit to maintain our own roles within society. Done. Finished. Do your job, do it properly, or get out and let others who can, do it instead of you. (I aim no offence at commenters here... I am okay with aiming it at the previous P.M, then, the brief, - though not brief enough, tbh - interim P.M, and _also_, the _current_ one, though he is dealing (if that word _can_ be applied to him) with another form of harm (eg financial and ecological etc) to our society. Politics is _not_ my "thing" and thus, I may be seen as "talking out of my a**e" but so be it. Unless I say how In feel and / or what I think, I will not be told, or learn where I'm mistaken, if I'm mistaken. Again, as to the "profanity" ... Bring it on. It's about time we heard some "genuine" thoughts expressed as any frustrated person would. Not necessarily a constant stream of words _designed_ to upset or cause offence, but, just "straight talking" and putting their alternative views across. I am fed up with the "namby-pamby" "clutching of pearls" by weak-minded "audiences" who would blush at 'David' minus his figleaf !! 🖖

Sadly, successive govts have eroded staff morale and created a culture which is one of slavery. I feel for the patients having to use it and those in the future who need it. We’re back to a Victorian style UK with TB and lack of vitamin D. Those who are stricken with poverty related illness as I previously mentioned, will have to suffer. There will be nowhere for them to go for care and treatment. Shame on the govt for allowing the training of staff to be dismantled and for creeping private care to be taking over. The disparity of poor hospitals eg the old workhouse ‘ Infirmaries’ versus the shiny hotel style private sector hospitals, which are paid for by insurance will further create a polarised society.
