They got it confused with sardines. Anchovies are real fish, sardines technically aren’t. Sardines are the result of the preparation of pilchards. Think of it like a pickle. Pickles are food you can eat, but you’d be hard pressed to find a wild pickle.

The alpha updates semi reguarly, the one for 2018 is vastly different from the 2016 version. It's true we've been on the current one for a long time now but the next update, which promises to be huge, should be coming soon. Joel Huernik (I think he's called) on youtube is part of the development team and releases videos about progress once in a while.
