I grow up listening to my grandfather Tommie Re White(RIP) playing the harmonica and his buddies on the guitar right in the living room!!!They would be having a goodtime, I miss them good old days;)
@ElizabethGS7 жыл бұрын
for the record...I too play harmonica, starting at 4yrs old (in Scotland) but gave it up at 14, then began again 30+ yrs later. However, I play chromatics and am very partial to '60's and '70's R&B which got me interested in Mark's covering those songs ...I like playing along with a mellow sax. I also like 'big ballads', but have many friends who play downhome blues like Paul, so this speaks to me too. For those interested in leaning to play, there are lots of good instruction books and cd's out..Winslow Yerxa wrote the 'Harmonica for Dummies' two volumes (and is the most recent past president of our harmonica organization). Jason Ricci's a personal friend, as is Dennis Gruenling...so many others. It's a relatively easy instrument to play, but a difficult one to 'master', the way Paul does here. Nothing compares (for me) to the voice of a harmonica. Couple it with a good sax player and I'm in heaven. ;)

Hola Dr. SaxLove.... I commented a few days ago on your "Motown" site. What really impressed me was that you 'answer' each of the people who post on your site! So. I subscribed to your site and saw that you post from a lot of different areas in MI, with some great photos of the 'light houses'.... I've been living in Central America for a few years now... and found your site by 'accident'. Accident?? Who knows? I believe in 'fate'.... and I believe in MI and Detroit and Music.... Which you offer all 3! I miss FALL COLORS, ORCHARDS ---APPLE CIDER, and ICE HOCKEY at the Joe ... and sooooo much more!!! Listening to your music.... Knowing that you are still there in MI, seeing all these places actually helps me. Some would/will I live in 'Paradise'.... However, as "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.....' egual es paradisia (same is paradise) Please keep up the great work to post for people like me who not only appreciate, but want to hear more of your music!!!

Hello again, Karen; very cool to hear from you from Central America. It's true that I do enjoy living in Michigan - I was born here, actually - although I must say that I lived in California for more than 30 years and I really miss it. Fall colors here in MI are beautiful, indeed, as are spring flowers and winter storms. And the thunderstorms - those are awe inspiring! The photos that have been appearing on my latest videos were taken by my son-in-law, Keith, who's a very talented photographer - beautiful, aren't they? Thanks for reaching out to me, Karen - it's a pleasure hearing from you! ~Mark Maxwell (Dr. SaxLove)

I can't believe there are 155 people who can't enjoy good harmonica, saxophone, organ, guitar, and drums blues music -- they must be extremely sad and sour folks! These beats and flowing melodies make you snap your fingers, tap your toes, sometimes whistle, and beat your fingers on the table/desk in time to Dr.SaxLove's fine blues collection uploaded here for our enjoyment. Another superb compilation, my friend, and I enjoy it very much. Thank you, good Dr!! Rev. Doug Deegan (ret'd.)
