actually no, to appear for any gate paper you need to have msc in maths or stats, not even data science or cs, but in maths or stats, you can go for JAM paper , that will be more beneficial and familiar for you, taking GATE exam will take around 2 - 2.5 years time, and another two years for msc, not worth the time and risk brother, instead, go for IITJAM.
