I feel exactly the same about Anne of Green Gables - never read it as a young teen despite having the book and reading the first chapter several times - I finally read it this year at age 45 and omg, feel like I totally missed out all those years ago. Am now on the third in the series - absolutely charming and heartwarming - Fab!

Ooh I just started the audible of love in colour last night! I read GWO and Anne off this list. Have the vanishing half, hollowpox and don't touch my hair on my tbr - have some treats in store!

I too want to read all of Anne of Green Gables..I love the way you described her.. makes me want to read them even more.. which I have never read. It's terrible that I haven't as I live in Nova Scotia Canada not far from PEI where it is set!... so this will be a reading goal for me in 2021... what I am doing is making a 2021 TBR from the favorite books of the 3 Booktubers that I follow which is you: April from Getting Hygge With It, and Krista from Books and Jams.. that is how I am a building some of my TBR.. I also must have 800/900/1,000???? books on my shelves that I have had for decades that I really need to get to!! So will be pulling from my shelves. I had around 1,200 books a couple of years ago but when I knew I was selling my house and moving into a much smaller space I did donate many to a local cat rescue for their online auction so I have decreased the number.. a bit...lol...

I loved Grown Ups! I am just about to start Girl, Woman, Other and really looking forward to reading it. I have had Skin Care for a while (I bought it because I am rubbish at looking after my skin), but haven't read it yet. I have just added a lot of the others to my wishlist!

This is a great list! But you'll need to get the last two books in the Anne series! Box sets and so on often forget them because they don't begin with "Anne" but they are still direct sequels - Rainbow Valley and Rilla of Ingleside :) I have loved the Anne series for so many years!!

The Vanishing Half was amazing...I think you would also like Love After Love by Ingrid Persaud which was so heart warming even though it was also heart breaking in parts. I had an amazing reading year this year thanks to lockdowns etc.

A great list, Girl, Woman, Other, Mr Loverman, The Pull of The Stars and The Bass Rock also made it on my top 15 (I did a top 5 for audio, listened to Mr Loverman on audio) I loved The Vanishing Half but it didn't make my top numbers. My overall favourite was The Kite Runner but my favourite book released in 2020 was Hamnet. I'm halfway through Grown Ups now as it's Simon's read for January, loving it so far.

My best books of 2020 are Life After Life by Kate Atkinson, Winterhouse by Ben Gunterson, and The House In The Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune (so good on audio). I am delighted you loved Anne of Green Gables. I am making room in my reading plans of 2021 to re-read the Anne of Green Gables series because I miss Anne in my life.

Happy new year Lauren :) I also loved Don't Touch My Hair and Grown Ups was one of my favourites too. I've just started The Break and am listening to every podcast featuring Marian Keyes going - I feel such a snob for dismissing her as WCF, when she is clearly so smart and her books are just these amazing, witty takes and her characters feel so real. My other top books were Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid, Summerwater by Sarah Moss, Sisters by Daisy Johnson and Wintering by Katherine May.

I listened to the audiobook of Love In Colour and LOVED it so so much... Her mum reads the last story with her which was just 😍 !! Mr Loverman made it into my top ten of 2020. There are books here that I've been meaning to get to, so was pleased to see they made it into your top twelve - perhaps I'll get to them sooner rather than later after hearing you review them again. (Also, I keep forgetting that I have the Hollowpox audiobook and I meant to listen to that as soon as I downloaded it.) Either way, was great to hear what books were your favourites of the year and hopefully you find a fair few new ones this year. I adored Love in Colour. What an absolute treat it was. A couple of these on your list already on my tbr, but now definitely some more added 😂 and going to get Mr Loverman on Audible!! Thank you for the recommendations ☺. I would recommend The Most Fun We Ever Had, if you haven't read that already. That's stuck with me all year ☺ Edit: I also thoroughly recommend Growns Ups on Audible if you didn't listen to it as an audiobook, it's read by Marian Keyes herself and is just THE BEST TIME.

I'm so happy you loved Anne! I was just thinking yesterday how much I wanted to read Rilla (the last Anne book). You should also check out Emily of New Moon trilogy, a tad darker and more atmospheric than Anne. And a stand alone, The Blue Castle, is very heartwarming!! Please watch the 1985 Canadian-made Anne of Green Gables with Megan Follows, Colleen Dewhurst, Richard Farnsworth. It is magic. It's the only movie version that is really true to the book.

And YES to Anne being the biggest babe in the world! I really missed her in the later books when she gets a bit more grown up and serious. But there’s still lots of lovely stuff to come in the later books!
