Wonderful to hear about your reading year! 📚 Definitely agree about Tenant of Wildfell Hall being a revelation and so ahead of its time. Nice to hear you discussing The Art of Fielding - I loved this book when I read it years ago. And great to hear you think so highly of Nightbloom too. Happy New Year!

Thanks for watching Eric 😊 it's so nice to discover a hidden gem like The Art Of Fielding - hopefully now other people might pick it up too. The women's prize did very well for me this year!! Have a wonderful 2025 with lots of amazing books.

A very interesting best of the year list! Thank you for that. The Art of Fielding is one of those books that I remember when it came out and all the buzz around it, but then never picked it up. Thanks for the enthusiastic reminder! And I am about 125 pages into Boudica: Dreaming the Eagle. I really need to dedicate some time to finishing it! I also picked it up because Louise Savidge mentioned it. And I’ve since been reminded by Aaron on his channel, but this is the push that will get me back to it. Happy New Year to you!

Matrescence is going on my TBR right now. I had a really traumatic experience my first time giving birth so I will proceed with caution. I also loved How to Say Babylon.
@YourTrueShelf4 күн бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that. I found it relatable and important rather than traumatic because it was quite a few years ago for me, but this is completely variable from person to person of course.

I love how many back list books are on here and also that you can see following the Women’s prize really pays off! How great that your favorite book is a series so you know you still have more books to come! This must have been such a hard list to make!

Yeh, I started with a list of 25 potential candidates and had to narrow it down a lot!! I know, being able to multiply my favourite book by 4 is a lucky treat! X

The Wallace Stegner sounds great! I agree - I preferred Anne over Charlotte but I still need to read more of their work as I’ve only read one from each. I don’t think either of them will ever top Wuthering Heights for me though.
@YourTrueShelf6 күн бұрын
I've read 2 of Charlotte's and just this Anne. I want to read wuthering heights, haven't done so yet 😊

I read Boudica a few years ago and absolutely loved it. I really need to carry on with the series, I dont know why I haven't yet! I also loved River East River West this year. It was probably one of my favourites of the womans prize this year.

@@rebecca.reader sounds like we have similar taste! We are going to go straight into book 3 of boudica, as we left a few months' gap last time and couldn't remember some details that we wished we could.

I was trying to predict a few of your choices, but didn't do too well (other than Matrescence!) - but I'm now definitely intrigued by the Boudica series. Not the kind of books I'd normally pick but I might have to branch out 😊 I already have How to Say Babylon on Audible (after you recommended it before) and looking forward to reading it. I'm considering Anne Bronte for Ben Reads Good's "Ann-uary" after you suggested it the other day (but it's rather long!) xxx
@YourTrueShelf5 күн бұрын
Oh well, I guess that makes it more interesting! The more people that say they're interested in Boudica makes me very happy!! I'm reading a middle grade book by Anna James (in a series I've been reading) for Ann-uary 😊 xx

Love Tenant, I really need to get onto Agnes Grey. Light Perpetual is on my TBR pile. I really like the sound of the Wallace Stegner. The Dictionary of Lost Words sounds interesting too, I studied the history of dictionaries a bit for my dissertation. Yay Boudica! I feel like we really lucked out choosing that to buddy read, especially since it was my first ever buddy read.
