47:15 About Arianna and her pregnancy, there was a prophecy (found in Byrgenwerth) that said "When the red moon hangs low, the line between man and beast is blurred. And when the Great Ones descend, a womb will be blessed with child". The Great One that got her pregnant was Oedon, and considering the chapel you sent her to is the Oedon Chapel, that could have facilitated the whole thing (since Oedon is formless there was no physical sex, but Arianna didn't consent to it). The product of Great Ones impregnating human women are Celestial Children, which indicates Arianna has special blood (Oedon not only uses blood as a medium, but he and his followers always seek "precious blood"). Also, the reason why Sister Adella can potentially kill her is because of Arianna's blood, since it's implied Arianna is a descendant Cainhurst Vilebloods (for example, she wears the same kind of dress worn by Cainhurst nobility, and the description of her blood says "A member of the old Healing Church would know that her blood is similar indeed, to precisely what was once forbidden", which also is a reference to Cainhurst blood).

The faux Iosefka also gets impregnated, doesn't she? Or am I remembering that incorrectly? I get my lore mixed up sometimes.
@pedrostormrage2 жыл бұрын
@@ailynevensen There is a chance fake Iosefka was pregnant because you can get a Third Umbilical Cord from her (as seen at 1:22:25), but there's no hard evidence of that in the game. Also, since the description of her cord only mentions Willem ("Provost Willem sought the Cord in order to elevate his being and thoughts to those of a Great One, by lining his brain with eyes. The only choice, he knew, if man were to ever match Their greatness") , that seems to imply the cord was originally his, but fake Iosefka stole it and consumed it in an attempt to ascend (which seemed to be happening, since she mentioned how she felt eyes starting to writhe inside her head). You can also compare that to the desciption of Arianna's child's cord, which does mention her pregnancy: "Every Great One loses its child, and then yearns for a surrogate, and Oedon, the formless Great One, is no different. To think, it was corrupted blood that began this eldritch liaison."

That’s FromSoft.. people always talk about the difficulty or the combat in Soulsborne games, but the real reason people love them is the insane attention to detail and care they put into their worlds and design. The games are a breath of fresh air in the current gaming economy. I wish more people would experience these masterpieces, but I’m also happy that FromSoft doesn’t compromise in their vision to make challenging games. It makes the discoveries and exploration even more rewarding because you have to work for it.

Ludwig is my absolute favorite boss in the whole soulsborne series. The design, the second phase, the music, even the way of how he changes stance to resemble a composed man, it's all beautiful. I would honestly play through the whole game again JUST to fight against him again.

@nerdiboy51282 жыл бұрын
Ludwig's no doubt the best because of his design, both aesthetically and soundwise. He's a grotesque creature with both Blood and Eyes, therefore being the "perfect, idealized" hunter, at least from an in-universe perspective. Plus, his music... DEAR GOD HIS MUSIC! It starts out seeming like all the other eldritch abominations you fought prior, an atonal drone of dread, but then he regains his sanity, whereupon the music does adopt a tone, it becomes more epic and orchestral as befitting a noble warrior, and this reflects in his suddenly fighting like a man rather than a beast, using his sword, firing off arcane moonbeams in an AoE attack. One youtuber I watched mentioned that Ludwig is a reference to Ludwig von Beethoven and his Moonlight Sonata, which makes sense as Moon imagery (with its connotations of ocean tides and madness) prevails in this game.

Actually, the Queen is WHERE the name Yharnam comes from! She was a queen of the Ancient Pthumerians, the inhabitants of the Chalice Dungeons that are supposedly buried under the City of Yharnam, and were closed off by the Healing Church because their explorers kept going mad from the things they'd seen. Queen Yharnam was impregnated by a Great One, but miscarried or something, and died shortly afterwards, hence why she's a ghost. And even if that wasn't why she is dead, it would doubtless be because this all happened CENTURIES before the City of Yharnam existed!

The great ones are: -Moon Presence (the creator and sustainer of the hunters dream, along with the one who enslaved Gehrman) -Amygdala (she has many clones, and it’s said she has mind powers being able to control peoples emotion. That’s how she was able to bring you into the dlc, by forcing you into a dream) -Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos (She is the equivalent to the god of space I guess, all I know is she is the one the church got all their knowledge and blood from which is also why the great ones left her forgotten) -Rom, the Vacuous Spider (She was made after Kos granted some of the hamlet citizens the wish of being a great one and is the one Willem talked to to find out about how to gain eyes inside his head also known as insight, I also believe Ludwig spoke to him which is why Ludwig is filled with eyes when you see him in the cutscene and why he still thinks like a human in the boss fight) -Kos (She apparently granted many wishes, until some hunters came to kill her which is it possible Gehrman and Maria were involved, it’s also believed she made her child the perfect hunter killer to get revenge in her dying breath. That’s why Kos is so incredibly hard to kill as a hunter, and it would also explain why the beast claw paired with beast embrace makes him so much easier to kill) -Orphan of Kos (He was born a great one, and on top of that he was the great one made to kill hunters and it’s likely he his the holder of the hunters nightmare) Mergo’s Wet Nurse (Made by Mergo or possibly Moon Presence she was made to be his protector as his mother couldn’t protect or take care of him and as we see in game her death causes Mergos death so it’s likely she is an extension of his soul) -Mergo (Influenced by Moon Presence he made the dream, and that’s why after his death the dream begins to burn signifying it dying) Being 9 great ones it’s debated whether Brain or Mensis or Celestial Emmisary is the last one, but in truth both are great ones. Celestial Emmisary being engineered by the church and Brain of Mensis being the great one who Micolash spoke to to gain his insight and knowledge) -Good Hunta’ (You are the final great one, destined to become what you came to kill) Edit: I forgot to mention, all of this is based off stories from eldritch horror stories so that’s where most of these theories can come from and if you read some of them you will see a lot of similarities to events in the game like how you break through a window to find Ebrietas
@hb7122 жыл бұрын
I like the theory that Mergo came about from Odeon, the formless Great One, and that Mergo’s Wet Nurse is akin to a “Friend” of Oedon. The Moon Presence seems to much prefer her servants to work against the other Great Ones. Also Ebrietas was an ascended Kin, so though she was for all intents and purposes a Great One she was once human (possibly Ptumerian?)
@Retard07212 жыл бұрын
Some of your theories are interesting but most are blatantly wrong and just explained in the game. Rom for example was a byrgenwerth scholar i believe that was voluntarily experimented on by Willem.
@finrodfelagund15282 жыл бұрын
The only thing you got right was Gehrman and Maria being involved with Kos' death XD. How can someone get the lore so wrong? 80% of these are explained in the game. Like the Moon Presence being territorial and wanting to kill the other great ones. She's the one who sends you after Mergo and Mensis, and that's why the messengers give you the blooddrunk eye, so you may go hunt the orphan and slay Kos, whom is the real holder of the nightmare, btw. Also, Mergo has nothing to do with the hunter's dream. There, the Moon Presence is the holder and Gehrman is the host. The place burns as a sign to the end of the hunt, meaning it's breaking dawn and the moon is losing its power, because it's losing its "presence."
@finrodfelagund15282 жыл бұрын
@@hb712 Ebrietas was very much a great one. The lore speaks of her being forsaken by other great ones and the chorus needed a third umbilical chord to be granted audience with her (you don't need that with ascended kin, since they don't physically ascend, so they stay on the same plane of existence). But she has obvious links to Pthumeru. Pthumerians probably shared her blood, thus "the old blood" came to be.
@hb7122 жыл бұрын
@@finrodfelagund1528 She bleeds yellow. Great Ones bleed red, Kin bleed yellow. Not that it really matters, anyway. The game essentially tells us that Kin are for all intents in purposes Great Ones who simply came from different origins than their “True” counterparts. Also I think the Hunter’s Nightmare and Nightmare of Mensis were unrelated… Mensis is caused by Mergo and is crucial to the main plot of the game, while the Hunter’s Nightmare is made by Kos and her orphan explicitly as an answer to the prayers of the fishing village and is designed to punish Hunters. God I love the more of this game.
