Wisconsin was not the first state with CWD. It was discovered in Colorado. first in captive deer in the 60s then wild deer in 1981. Was in Wyoming in the 90's.

Packaged nicely, shoots great I upgraded the rest to a fall away and my grouping has been more consistent than ever. Sight is still true, and the thing has over 500 arrows thru it easily. Highly recommend for newbies or even advanced archers looking for a “truck bow” something to just throw around or lend to your buddies.

I wish he would specify in WI is free range vs game farms! I know most CWD detected in the northern part of the state is thanks to game farms!
@veteranironoutdoors83202 жыл бұрын
Wrong. Deer farms were the first to detect it, because they are taking care of their animals.
@petegraf77602 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Deer farms are under extreme scrutiny, and testing is required to run a game farm. The finger pointing has to be placed on someone, because the true answer is simple. It's been here all along. My guess is some graduate from some college decided their thesis would involve this particular prion. It was discovered like it is in many mammals, and boom, special interest groups found a reason to insist that hunters comply to herd reduction. Let me throw this one at you, and ask if it makes sense? Let's eradicate the deer herd to eradicate CWD. Or should we allow nature to decide whether the herd will build an immunity to the disease, which has been shown to be true in 60% of the herd? Do not fall for this scare tactic.
@wibuckfever77642 жыл бұрын
Per Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Oconto County-2016 thru June 2022 wi farm raised deer positive infections are 457. Same time frame for wild deer herd infection is 1.
@benjaminwilson17322 жыл бұрын
Deer farms are high density and common feeding areas (auto-feeders). Any disease will quickly spread under these conditions. Wild deer frequent the fencelines and blowdowns let infected deer escape into the wild to continue the spread. Double fencing should be mandatory for these farms.

Getting the boys set up and tuned was cool, I remember my 4..lol Talking about the diseases with a knowledgeable person was interesting, and I remember alot of diseases have been around in my lifetime. Citrus Canker, Bruscelosis, Mad Cow, CWD, to name a few. I'm not sure if there are patterns to these, but it's hard to understand how they are not only spotty in certain states, but how the disease jumps missing counties and or states. I personally don't understand it. Love what ya'll do for sure.

I'd like to share something I've been wondering for a few years. With all the landscape companies who spray incescticides and pesticeds. And deer are constantly eating those plants. Also applying deer repellent and after 2-3 wks that fades off and they also eat those shrubs/lower tree branches. Would like to know if anyone is looking into this. I'm very familiar with the tree/shrub spraying and the chemicals are potent and it should be looked into. As a hunter I've always thought this can't be good. The amount of companies doing these treatments are large in numbers and it seems to have started in a large scale across the country in the 90s. Seems like all these problems started in the 90s to present. It's concerning but what wildlife commission will go up against let's say.. Monsanto etc.?
@jordanerickson48582 жыл бұрын
This is something to consider based on his description of what CWD is. Wouldn't hurt to talk to your local Game and fish about testing for pesticides and herbicides in the meat. If they have not tested for that already

I'm curious if the Iowa DNR ever tests Coyotes? Besides humans they consume deer as well. CWD to my knowledge has never jumped species. I may have heard scientists did it in a lab with mice. I'm one that will continue to eat deer without testing.

No deer have survived cwd? Tell that to the deer farms. They have found that the prions are caused by blood being acidic. They found fixing the PH of the blood using humic and foilic acid supplements has lead to cwd going into remission and the deer putting on weight and continuing to live unaffected.

Does baiting increase the spread of CWD?
@chuck85862 жыл бұрын
It certainly can. And is generally outlawed where cwd has been detected. The reason its bad, is it gets larger than normal quantities of deer visiting an abnormally small spot. Since cwd can stay active on the soil for up to two years, if a cwd positive deer is visiting your bait pile, another deer that visits can very easily pick it from mucus or saliva left by the positive deer.
