5:08 asam is actually from the word "masam" which means sour.. Basically made by any kind of dried fruit or pickled fruit.. 6:42 this is not the real busy.. If u come around 7-9am u probably need to wait up to 1hour or more to be seated(to get the table) and sometime even need to share table with strangers. "busy giler" what we say.. Hahah (giler=crazy) By watching this video i fell like wanna drive straight away to ipoh just for the chee cheong fun and coffee! Arghh 😋
@kualarompin5896 жыл бұрын
5:05 Asam (Malay) = Tamarind Sour =Masam (Malay) When I was a kid, I had a severe sore throat. My mom gave me asam juice, a traditional remedy she made herself by squeezing tamarind. Well, after couple of days drinking that, it worked :). I could never forget the sour taste tho.

@androidpod8zenchan9226 жыл бұрын
The one you ate at Ipoh with shrimps thrown into the thin layer of rice flour spread over the hot table is the closest resemblance of HK style Chee Cheong Fun. The KL Chee Cheong Fun where they pour a dark thick soy sauce with tofu fish cakes is more Taiwanese style. The PJ one is a cross between the 2 where you can choose to have Ipoh style noodle-like Chee Cheong Fun with KL style dark sauce.

before the memory lane is called lam lok ken ( road name ) and it's location is near the sungai kinta (old town) , the place you go (memory lane) actually is the new location. back then (at the old location) it's not too crowded like these day. hehe .. for me roti goyang medan selera dato sagor is more tastier . do try nasi ayam penyet inside the yik fong shopping complex (located nearby the memory lane) , believe me it's good .

For a change, instead of ordering roti goyang(Cantonese name for it is Tan-See Min Pao) , I prefer poached eggs in the cup by itself(usually come in set of 2 eggs self applied soy with white pepper) and separate toast spread with kaya/margarine - Cantonese: yin-yong siew min pao). You can dip these toast into the poached eggs and it makes a big difference. Those Cantonese names for their respective orders can also be used in Hong Kong and Macau if you ever visit them in future.

Chee Cheong Fun(translated into English from Cantonese means pork intestine noodles although they're 100% rice made). You see when you roll up the rice dough and chop it into chunks, it supposed to resemble pork intestines! The most original form is KL Chee Cheong which is exactly as described followed by Teluk Intan/Anson(another coastal town south in Perak. I suggest you try KL Chee Cheong Fun to decide for yourself. Observe its shape and you'll know why it's called that way.

Ladies! I am so happy that you two are enjoying your stay in Malaysia so far. However, your stay IS NOT COMPLETE if you DON'T GO to the Borneo states of Malaysia! Which is, the state of Sabah & Sarawak. Since July is just around the corner, book a flight to the state capital of Sarawak; Kuching. Kuching will be hosting 3 major festivals on July that you should not be missed! Namely the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF), an annual music festival that has been recognised as the world's top 25 best international music festival by Songlines Magazine (the magazine is based in the UK). A week before RWMF, the city will be hosting Rainforest Fringe Festival. Basically an introduction to RWMF where everything about arts, cultures, food & music will be displayed before RWMF. Last but not least is Kuching Food Festival! Will be held at the end of July till August. Do come visit us in Borneo! It'll gives you a whole new different experience from the West (Peninsula) Malaysia! #CheersToFreedom

The one you see in the video where they put a thin layer of rice flour on the hot pan and throw shrimps on it is the original HK style Chee Cheong Fun, where they serve it this way in Dim Sum restaurants for breakfast. There's also stir fried Chee Cheong Fun where you can find at popular Dim Sum outlets as a standalone side-dish by itself on the menu.
