Best Budget CD Player: Marantz UD5005 - The Only Disc Player You'll Ever Want?

I have a dedicated, one year old Denon cd player with a very warm sound, wide soundstage and perfect internal DAC. I just hope it is reliable and will last for many many years. By the way, as far as I know, Marantz and Denon are now the same company.

Yes, I think you're right. Both owned by Masimo who also own B&W, Polk, and a few others. Denon have certainly kept up the very high quality products they've been known for and are an excellent choice of player!

Yep I too have just purchased a denon and it sounds great it fills the room . My old jvc is in storage

Thanks for the video. I Have a Sony carousel CD player that holds 300 discs that I’ve had for about 16 years. Recently added a single play Rotel RCD 1572 MKII CD player that has an excellent DAC and I can hear the difference. In another room I have a small Samsung BluRay player that also plays CDs that’s hooked up to a Samsung TV and Sonos Beam 2 with a mini-sub. Sounds OK when I play a BluRay disc that some CD reissues or box sets have in addition to the CD(s). Finally in my office I have a Bose radio with CD player on my desk I bought on eBay that sounds as good as the old one my Dad had back when they first came out. Congratulations on the number of subscribers including me!

I’d overlooked CD’s for a while, got more interested from videos like this had an old Sony blu ray and got a cheap cd drive for my Mac mini, but didn’t tick all boxes. I spotted a Cambridge Audio 751bd used and a decent price so jumped on it. I’m so happy with it. Going to be stocking up on all my favorite music and movies on the cheap. DVDs look great on it too. Had no remote but managed to configure my TV remote. I just hope it last another 10years!

Cambridge Audio make great stuff so hopefully you'll get plenty more years out of it. Nice to be able to play movies on it too. I've recently been getting back into DVDs and Blu Rays as I find a lot of times the film I want to watch isn't on streaming anymore.

Hi, First time seeing you as I have been looking at CD videos. Small NYC apt. with outside 'white noise, not a good listening environment. Still using a Denon DCD 1400 of 1990. Replaced the belt in the late 1990s. Vintage NAD integrated amp of same period in shop now needs refurbishing badly. For a micro system for bedroom, just ordered a Pro-ject CD Box DS3.

Nice! Yes, having the option to play wav files vis USB is an excellent feature on these machines. The UD5005 has that too. Very handy!

You can’t go wrong with a marantz disc player - I regularly use a few years old CD6005 and have no desire to upgrade

Hi Matt, just found your channel and enjoying your content 👍 Until recently, i had been using my old Denon DVD-2910 as a CD transport. Unfortunatley, it has died now, and don't think it is worth spending the money on to keep it going. I have had it from new and certainly had my monies worth out of it.🙂 I am going to be on the look out for a new CD transport in the near future. I could just play my msuic from my MAC mini as i have all my CD's ripped to the HD, but i do like to remove the computer from my main speaker system and just listen to CD or vinyl, hence the need to add a new CD transport. I use my MAC Mini to listen to new music via my headphone system, and if i like it, I then by on CD or vinyl to listen to on my main system.

Hi Mat i had a cd5005 for many years & loved it but I now have a Rega Planet which is a top loader and is far superior to the Marantz.
