GTX 1660 Ti in 2024 - A Good Budget 1080p GPU?

Still rocking my ryzen 5 2600 + 1660 ti setup since 2020. For 1080p high settings in Diablo 4 and Baldur's Gate 3, I say it's still great.

Even before watching the video, I've said for a minute now that the 1660 Ti is the new meta for budget 1080P gaming. It's almost the same price as 1650's but with about 20-30% more power. I also love that it isn't super power hungry, so it makes it pair very well with Optiplex type builds with smaller PSU's.

True, i paired it with Optiplex 3050 SFF on I7 7700 with 1660 Ti EVGA. althrough i need to Upgrade my PSU to 450w and use an Adaptor so it could support Dell Motherboard and remove my side panel, Overal the specs and performance is really good. easy 100+ on 1080p Med or sometimes High settings.

ive an i5 4460 paired with an gtx 960 4gb,i upgraded to 16 gb ram from 8 and 1tb ssd from 500 gb hdd...i play R6S,battlefield,souls etc 1080 medium 60 solid fps.Ill buy RDR2 and The witcher 3(the 2 games i want to complete this summer).If it stutters ill buy the 1660 super,since is the last gpu this i5 holds without big bottleneck.

Arc a580 *about 140 dollars in sales* Rx 5600 xt And the non xt Rtx 2060 *about 100 dollars* All of these are better in a similar price .

I have the 1660 super in my main PC and other than the fact it doesn't support Ray Tracing or DLSS it's still a great card I play most new games without issue even Stanfield runs well if u mess with the graphics settings some and u can run most settings above medium in most cases ❤😎

Being a AAA gamer sucks. I had to get a 3080 if I wanted the frame rates I desired at 1440p in most AAA games.

A couple years ago i purchase an RX590 inatead of this, but the price difference was too big at the time. Wish i had gone for this one tbh, RX590 gets too hot and thottles so much

@@ProYamYamPC yeah, it still works but from 1580mhz goes down to 1340 due to thermal, cant even undervolt. I purchased new thermal paste and pads hope it works.

I think i would always pick GTX 1660 ti/super over 1070/80 or rx 580. Maybe rx 5700 for really good price can beat it. But 1660 has lowest chance of being used for mining

My mining friend had 4 of them in his racks, they are really efficient miners. The 6gb vram and being able to run at a low wattage was for great for mining at the time. His racks were almost entirely 3070s and a handful of 3080s. Those times are past though thankfully .

It was getting close in my testing. Asus certainly didn't strap a good cooler to this GPU🤣

@@ProYamYamPC Not at all. That's a huge design flaw on this model. Mine was getting closer to 100 degrees C temperature on the hot spot during the OCCT testing. Luckily the ASUS TUF 1660 (all variants) uses exact same PCB, so that means its heatsink should be able to fit on this Phoenix card without issues (if you can find the heatsink with fans cheap). The heatsink on the TUF model is much beefier and has heat pipes.

Literally playing Cyberpunk with a 1660 Ti., on high and ultra settings.45 to 65 fps allday. No ray tracing though. That's like 10 FPS. Lmfao

How do you manage to have acceptable temperatures? I recently bought a GTX 1660 super, precisely the same model of Asus but its dissipation is very bad, the only way not to reach the Thermal Throttling is with the fans at 100%.

It's a very poor model in all fairness. But I changed the thermal paste before I did my testing. That will help your situation

In Hogwarts legacy the textures that load are low/mid quality, it automatically loads those when higher quality textures fail to load in time/vram is full.

I've had this card for 4yrs. Its a great card for smaller PCs, and used it without any issues. Played most games at 1080p/60+fps or 1440p/30-40fps. Imo, don't buy one unless you can repaste it and get it for less than $75.

Well, as someone who owns a laptop with a i7 9750h and gtx 1660ti i can confidently say that i can run any game in 1080p without any issue. So yeah that still hold true

I've got the Super version of this exact model. One thing I dislike about this particular model GPU is the size of the heatsink. It is almost identical to the one inside the GTX 1050 that I used to use. Also the fan in my particular one uses ball bearings, which are noisier compared to sleeve or FDB bearings. I had to disassemble my fan and put some 3-in-1 oil inside the bearings to make it quieter. My 1660 Super comes with 1 less port than the Ti you had, and it doesn't have the 2nd HDMI shown at 8:12

I was planning to buy the rx 6600 for but because of the hype and everyone recommending it the price increased in my region, even used one too so my budget was to buy this used but found a sapphire rx 5600 xt pulse pro oc for the same price so bought that instead. lets see how it runs.

I would say the 1070 is a better option, cheaper with similar performance and that 2gb extra vram which is important these days

It depends. The 1660 Ti has better tech and it seems the drivers are more optimised with Turing compared to Pascal. The extra 2GB on the 1070 is a massive W though
