Rather get the goove variant. These have the LEDs way too far apart which makes the diffused look of light (uniform look running down the strip) not very good. You can clearly make out the individual LEDs badly.

It has a remote that comes with it so, yes, the strips can light without an internet connection as long as it's plugged into the outlet. The correction to the app is just for the extra fun features like music, Alexa connection, etc (I own these as well).

You can angle it just right I had to run my cord up the wall and then I started the lights on the ceiling trim but had like a foot I had to curve in the wall it should be ok if you bend the strip a little when sticking it
