Daniel was written in 164 bce, not "600 BCE". And No, the text doesn't say "the messiah will enter Jerusalem in exactly X amount of days", that adds up to 30 AD, the math actually brings us to 164 BCE, as ONIAS was the "Christ" that this so-called Daniel was writing about because the text back-dated itself to make a prophecy about Onias sound like a prediction, and then Christians in the late first century just applied this text to Jesus. That was so painful.

You'd be right to do so, but it's impossible to prove you won't find some after digging for 2003 years. Unless you actually do dig for 2003 years. But if the gold isn't worth it, find something else to do.

Lol I haven't gotten far yet just at the beginning. . . but I want to say now. If someone said they had gold, and wanted me to help them dig for it, and they were telling the truth. I'd just ask for the payment up front for my digging services. There would be a value on our contract, 50% disbursed up front, the rest dispersed over a predetermined amount of time. whether there is gold or not I need to get paid

If some of these religious people witness the daily trauma of others it might sink in. As it turns out, I see a lot of the religious living a very protective risk free life where they shelter themselves from coming close to such thoughts.

I cannot be a Christian, because from 5 till 8 I was abused by 3 men at sunday school. They used to tell me it was gods punishment for being evil. I know I was not evil, and as an adult I know that they were lying. What I cannot accept that a god who was in the tiniest amount caring, could let children go through that. That lightning wouldn't strike them down for doing that in his name. That that god let me believe subconciously for 45 years that I was unlovable and evil. That this stuff happens to hundreds of thousands of children everyday. But false preachers can gave 5 jet planes and live to old age. Its all bullocks

The idea that the King James Bible is the One True Bible is so hilarious to me. Sure, the gospels were written in Aramaic or whatever, and translated into Greek, then Latin, but the English translation made a millennium and a half after the fact, that's the Definitive Edition. lol

The problem is that whether we believe it or not whether we want it to be or not, we are involuntarily participats in an evolutionary process. Which only means change over time. If the words cannot be changed or the expectation cannot be changed it comes in direct conflict with this process of nature that we have no control over. Even in a split second of time we have changed our position from that last increament of time. Probability of outcome playes a more significant role in shaping our perspective of reality then hard driven wote down non chargeable expectations of human conditioning. That's why laws that applied previously that we all agreed to follow have become irrelevant in today's society, so laws governing constantly change due to new realizations in the evolutionary process.

Maybe they get off humilation. It's a fetish way more common then you think and religion requires them to let god throw any hardship and abuse on them. Look at the story of job, god ruined his life and job thanked god for it. As entertaining as these calls are, you should really set some ground rules for these caller discussions. For example: "In this format of discussion and debate, both sides must agree on source material that is acceptable as a reliable, true reference. We on The Atheist Experience do not believe that the events in the Bible have been proven to be true, so no use of Bible quotes is permitted."
@chrisgraham29048 ай бұрын
Theists, regardless of what religion, do not know what evidence is, or how to evaluate evidence, or how important evidence is. Every education system in the world needs to implement a course in epistemology, beginning in grade 2. In a world of the internet and A.I. this need today is greater than it has ever been. This lack of understanding seems to be the root of every issue and controversy regarding religions, politics and every conspiracy that one can dream up.

I think they know what evidence is but use special pleading when discussing their god. There always seems to be a justification for not having any actual evidence.

Anyway she called me in to help her find it, and in my capacity as an Avowed Atheist among other things I walked into her bedroom went directly to the head of her bed and reached down between the the bed head and the mattress and pulled out her glasses. Not a prayer was required, Grated I did feel a bit god like for finding them immediately. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

While the "universe farting pixies" call was always my favorite, this one was also a candidate for the best call ever. Not because it came close to proving God, but because where most callers are just wrong on one point over and over again, this caller just dug himself deeper and deeper to the point that, by the end of the call, he was nowhere near his original argument.

I think the stupid glasses remark was going for a metaphor about them being cloudy and you having to clean them to see clearly what has been in front of your eyes all the time, like he's saying that his absurd god has revealed himself to you, but your pride or something is the fog on your glasses. They are always so impressed by simple rhetoric and thinks it proves something.

Then there is the Council of Nicaea in 325 CE convened at Emperor Constantine's behest to get uniformity of belief in his empire. They decided on the Holy Trinity and that Jesus was divine. This was the beginning of the Catholic Church which means universal. This caller would have to think that there were no Christians before the KJV was written.
