The A7C has been my favorite multi purpose camera for a while now. I’ve been able to grow with this over the years in terms of video and full frame photography. Spend the money on the lens (1.8f/20mm G Lens for video and 2.5/50mm G Lens for photos) and this thing can easily punch into the professional level. Highly recommend.

If you aren't planning on buying full frame lenses than I'd buy a crop sensor camera. The A6000 line is good, the ZVE10 is also good

I think what you said about having a diverse work flow is key! Sony is in a tough place & I think that’s why nobody is talking about the A7C because it’s overpriced, especially when the FX30 comes out. If you don’t have the workflow, then it’s hard to argue not grabbing 2 ZVE10s lol But I do love the camera

Ben, question for you, if I want to do some videos where I walk away from the camera, and maintain my audio in sync with a Tascam DR-10L, what’s the best way to do that? Do I have to clap at the beginning or at the end of each clip to make sure FCPX has a place to synchronize the wave forms? That’s the only way I’m thinking to do it unless I get a wireless mic setup, but I heard that wireless mics are subject to interference. Please advise. I’m just concerned because I’m going to be far from the camera and both the Tascam and the camera won’t be capturing the same audio wave form for a period of time.

If you’re doing one long clip, you could just manually sync it, because you’d only have to line it up once. I’d do a clap so you can see the waves and then line it up

Ben HELP!!! I have been recording with the Sony ZV-1 for about a year now and in my previous set up when I had it permanently on a desk mount with 2 key lights I had no issues with over heating but recently I changed up my setup and now I have it on a tripod between 2 large soft box lights and the camera showed the overheating symbol on the screen this past week. Do you think the heat from the soft boxes may have caused this?

It’s possible, typically LED soft box lights are not hot, BUT if you can try to add in a small desk fan or room fan on a low power facing the camera, it will most likely stop this issue It could even be a usb powered fan, small and not loud I find having a little airflow goes a long way

The A7CII is magic. I hated Sony cameras, but not any more. They are seriously leading the game now. I've always kept an eye on Sony hoping they would get it together and they finally have. Time to switch from Fuji.

The crop mode is basically digital zoom. I don't see what's so special about that. Or do dslr and mirrorless usually not have digital zoom options? I don't remember, haven't used one in 10 years!

I'm looking to get an upgraded camera but just can't make up my mind yet. My GoPro gets the job done for now but I'm looking at the ZV-1, A7C, and a7IV, but then the FX30 just came out. I would like to use it for hiking vlogs, so I'm a bit concerned about the rolling shutter on the A7C. My budget is roughly 2k since I also have to account for a lens. The A7SIII just seems to pricey for my 1st camera. 'm concerned with the stabilization and rolling shutter on the A7C. I'm a newbie so maybe I'm overthinking all of this. I wouldn’t go with the fx30 for outdoor shooting. No one is taking about iPhone 11 or 12, but they are still great phones. Creators just don't need to regurgitate same topic/content again and again.
