Very good review from somebody who actually uses the bag. I have all three versions of PD everyday bags, 20L regular backpack, 20L Tote bag and a 15L zip. Zip is actually the one I use the most because it’s light, big enough to hold two cameras with lens on them and a small point and shoot plus a few essentials. The advantage is the full opening allows maximin space utilization and still have the quick access to all three cameras from the side. I use a 11” iPad Pro so that tight laptop slot is no issue to me. Happy shooting fellow PD bag owners. Cheers.

I agree 100%. Sometimes I miss the bigger top opening on the old bag, but I've come to really love my PD zip. I can't imagine using any other bag ❤

A great honest review and comparison, thanks. And it was good to see how you pack it with cameras too. Are you still using the Everyday Zip bag or did you go back to the v1 Everyday back pack? Not sure if I want the 15L or the 20L but I'm leaning for the extra space just in case.

Regarding the security of the MagLatch flap, the V2 now has anchor points on the inside of the flap that line up with the external carry anchor points, so you can put a padlock right there. I just got one, and figured out what they were for because of your video!

There is actually another hidden, bigger laptop sleeve that you don’t seem to have found in this video. If you remove the rather hidden velcro at the back of the laptop sleeve you showed in the video, that gives you the full access to the bigger sleeve. The design is a bit non sense to me and actually makes it a bit harder to take out your laptop. But it does fit the bigger 16”.

Great video! I’m getting the Everyday Backpack V2 20L / Midnight Blue. Can’t wait! As for security 7:52 , to secure the top flap couldn’t you use a luggage cable lock and loop through metal pull and the bottom bar? There seems to be a gap wide enough between the bar and the fabric.

Nice, I hope you enjoy the V2 bag -- it looks like they made some sweet improvements. Yes, a luggage cable lock could indeed work to secure the top flap -- just gotta make sure the cable is thin enough, but most of them are. Thanks for the tip!

Important note. The 15" and 16" MacBooks are exactly the same size. I have a 15" macbook and the new 16" too, and if I stack one on another, they have exactly the same size. Why different naming/number? Because the 16" has actually a over 16" display, while the most common 15" only have 15,3" display. I also bought the Everyday 20L Zip , and it's tight, but as as tight as any 15", and I can fit the 16" there, even with a laptop sleeve.

Great review. I'm a small female and was looking at either the 15L or 20L Zip backpack. I'm interested in using the P.D. capture clip which I just got and wondered if it would work on the 15L size bag as I think I would prefer the smaller size. Have you ever used the capture clip to carry your camera on the outside of your bag? I haven't used it yet as it doesn't work on my old pack partly due to my small size and the pack not fitting me very well, so I'm looking at other options like the P.D. pack.

Thank you for the review. Are you still happy with this bag? At 16:13 you talk about the zipper might open. To me this looks like a blocker if the zipper over time would open up by itself. Is there no other way of preventing it to open?
@Gemini_Connect
@Gemini_Connect 4 жыл бұрын
Great question -- several months later, I'm still very happy with this bag. For the zippers possibly opening over time, as long as you secure them through the bag loops as seen at 16:13, they hold steady and don't cause any problems. The zips can slide open a little, but never enough to cause large items to spill out. I used the regular non-zipping version of this backpack previously, and that bag also has zips that secure in the same way, and they never broke or fell apart after years of usage.
@alzdsz

Very nice review. Those Peak Designs are intriguing. My current backpack is an older Tenba Shootout 32L. I live it. It holds all if my gear and it quite sturdy. I like the versatility of it and it is rugged. However, the ruggedness makes it heavy (ish). I'm a relatively bug guy so the weight really is not a bother. I carry 2 Nikon D7000s, 1 with a battery grip and my Sigma 150-600mn C attached, GODOX Flash, 3 additional lenses, batteries, cables, etc. It's survived me and that's saying a lot.

You can add a tripod via carrying straps like a lot of other camera backpacks, but I honestly never find that a practical way to carry a tripod -- it just makes the bag heavier and harder to carry. I prefer getting a tripod that has its own bag or case and carrying it separately to distribute the weight. The Peak Design bags aren't perfect and IMO not suited for every situation (I go with the InCase backpack or Think Tank roller when I need to carry a lot of gear), but for light, everyday carry, I think they're a good alternative. Thanks for noticing the watch! I LOVE it and have been meaning to do a video on it. Martin and I both have one. We'll do a video soon.

@@Gemini_Connect I've been an amateur photographer for 45 years. The bags do look nice. But, aren't as rugged as bags made for hard use. I'm betting you'll be replacing the Peak Design bag in a year or two. Maybe just because you like the look of the new bag. Form over function. Actually I shouldn't have posted in the first place. If you or others like the Peak Design bags, great. Use them. Enjoy them. I use Peak Design straps myself. But, I don't think the bags are very rugged.

They're more rugged than they look. Think Tank is more rugged and built to last, but like their camera straps, Peak Design bags are solid. I've had one for 5+ years and jo complaints so far.

@@Gemini_Connect I have a variety (storage cabinet full) of Think Tank bags that I've accumulated over the years and currently use. Before that it was Lowepro. I tend to stick with a brand for a while before I change to another brand. But, if you like Peak Design, great..

We have a lot of different bags, but mostly from Think Tank. Peak Design isn't my favorite bag ever from a comfort standpoint, but I needed a sleek looking bag as opposed to one that looked like a hiking bag because most of my work is in corporate, city environments. Peak Design matches a more professional look IMO.
