Morten, I also use the Peak Design strap - and I have found that keeping a spare anchor button on one end of the strap is useful. When I take the camera off, I can then clip the two ends of the strap together and leave it around my neck without losing it. (I lost one in Germany before I came up with this fix!)

Today I wish I wasn’t disabled more than at any other time with my photography, I can’t think of anything I'd like better than an adventure with you two. As a nature photographer the Galápagos Islands and the Amazon are the ultimate. It will be a dream come true for many people. That trying to make your strap black, changing your etc sounded just like me. The best strap I have are on my Swarovski bins and scope. Very comfortable and very easy to adjust etc. It’s great to see photography Friday back, it’s been missed and this video is brilliant.

I agree with all points of your analysis of the Peak Camera strap. Everything's perfect, except for the rather slippery catch mechanism. I like the smoothness of the strap, so Peak, if you're listening, try to develop some sort of EASY lock mechanism, so it doesn't move.

Hello Morten. Equador and Glapagos - it will probably not be better. I was there 4 years ago and I would like to go there again. Equadors cloud forests are an absolutely indescribable place with orchids and hummingbirds. And Galapagos is every nature lovers paradise. The animals on land as well as in the sea are trustworthy and easy to photograph. I understand that you are looking forward to it. I would terribly like to see the places again with you. The strap seems easy to use. I have considered one but with basically a strap the rides across. your shoulders every time you reposition your camera keeps me from trying it. Except for the ease of connecting and disconnecting from you camera or lens, which I do appreciate, it looks like other straps I have used that bind on my shoulder. Not having a locking mechanism is a real problem, having experienced the frustration of similar equipment that hods its position. However, as you said, if it works for you, that is what counts. Thanks for sharing.

I have this strap but never find the catch slides down like your's has, however the steel spring clips get rusty after a while and also the strap digs into my shoulders when I carry my Great White lens and camera (EF400 f/2.8 which weighs 6.5kg)

A great camera strap. Unfortunately a little short. I use the equivalent from Smallrig with a length of 160cm. If this strap were longer, I would change immediately because I think the anchor loop system from Peak Design is more secure. Unfortunately, both systems are similar but not really compatible.

Nice review Morten. I have the same strap (in black) and agree with every comment you have made. Brilliant strap but it does slide down depending on the weight of the equipment you have, I use a D810 with either a D300mm or D80-200mm and the strap slides with these attached. I imagine it would be simple for Peak Design to implement some form of locking device on the strap, it would then be perfect.

I don't like the PD strap, because it has no cushioning in the neck, has one width throughout, which I find too wide near the camera and the metal adjustment is clunky. I've settled for the OP/Tech Pro Strap with a set of Uni-Connectors (the short ones, that detach just like with the Peak Design and some Extension Connectors between the Unis and the Pro Strap. The beauty of the thick neoprene in the neck is, that it really relieves stress in the neck like no other strap I've tried with heavy gear for hours walking around. Some ppl. here might want to give it a try.

I have the same strap and the same complaint! It is a sturdy one for heavy things, and then it does not work with heavy things. Hope they fixed that! I also have their everyday backpack, that I am not 100% happy about - one of the problems is also regarding weight - when you put a lot of stuff in it, it just keeps creeping and sagging and I have to re-adjust. It was supposed to be the best bag that I have been saving for a long time and ordered it from kickstarter, unfortunately not the case. Tough it look dope, probably why so much hype on peakdesign

@larrytor3 жыл бұрын
because you put a gaufe tape on the strap lever that's making it slide because it's not locked
@Spurdospaerde6923 жыл бұрын
There is no lock, other than the friction between the folded strap and the plastic buckle. The metal levers are just nice looking folding handles to have something to grab and pull on, which makes it easier and quicker to adjust the strap's length. The clicks your hear and feel when you fold in the handles are just keeping the handles from flapping around. To be clear, the buckle friction is enough to lift a car without having the strap length changed, like any other common buckles working by the same ancient principle. It's not the weight of the gear that might change the strap length. Weight is actually what keeps the strap "locked", by keeping the strap in the correct angle to the buckle. Unintentional adjustment could happen when there is NO load on the strap and the loop might move rather freely through the buckle. Also, the buckles might get snagged on bags, pockets and other things/materials on your clothing when you slide the strap around your body as intended in the sling carrying style, which could unintentionally adjust the strap length.
