do you see a difference in your hair using products with low quality ingredients vs your really expensive all natural products? or does your hair just like what it likes?
@PowerInYourCurl
@PowerInYourCurl 7 жыл бұрын
I love this question. It honestly depends, but for me it's less about cheap vs. expensive and more about synthetic ingredients vs. natural ingredients (there are expensive products with synthetic ingredients that could be considered "high quality" that my hair doesn't agree with). There is a difference in your hair just feeling healthy and it actually being healthy and I feel like in most cases all natural products help my hair to actually be healthy and not just feel healthy like synthetic products can do. However, there are certain synthetic products that my hair just loves and they do contribute to my hair's health. 2 of those types of products are my all-time favorite shampoo that I use at least 2-3x a month which is the Head and Shoulders 2in1 Dry Scalp Shampoo/Conditioner and also that Fantasia IC gel is amazing.

I used to be a product junkie too.😭 I graduated from High school /Beauty College in 1986. I had access to all the good stuff, but that Aussie 3 minute miracle was my secret weapon and still is today. All of those products are awesome, but they are formulated to work together. I work out and sweat a lot, so I use the Green Vo5 5 vitamin conditioner to rinse the salts out of my hair. It works wonders between shampoos and it's only $1.

Mane and tail was originally for horses. People started using it and it took off (no pun intended). Also another thing that was originally for animals was that popular flexible detangling brush, the one with the rows of teeth are separated.

So I’ve used the Creme of nature Argan oil and it’s highly clarifying, it can cleanse to the point where your hair if 4c can feel a tad dry. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve used it after swimming so gave an extra wash to ensure I got all the chlorine out!

Trésemme 7x moisture shampoo and conditioner work really well and are often on sale at Walgreens 2 for$8 for large bottles. The conditioner has really good slip. Also, TJMaxx carries several higher priced products at discounted prices. I like the Chi Argan and morenga oil shampoo and conditioner. A little goes a long way for $18/30 (depending on the size) for the set whereas some cheaper products may require using more product so you end up having to purchase more to get the same amount of use you'd get out of one bottle of Chi. Those are my go tos for now. I experienced excessive dryness with the Cream of nature shampoo and conditioner. Beautiful Textures repair deep conditioner ($6-8 for 16 oz) is really good and moisturizing too and can be used as a leave in and deep conditioner. I mix it with honey, olive oil, and jojoba oil as part of my healthy hair journey. (Honey as a humectant but I rinse it out). If I'm not rinsing I'll just mix the deep conditioner with olive oil and jojoba oil

So, so disappointed with the Cantu Shea Butter Leave in moisturizer. Everyone told me that's the go-to hair product. I finally took out my braids. Been natural for almost 2 years. Decided to rock my natural hair finally. I bought the Cantu a week ago and been using it. I noticed that my hair looked quite dry and lack lustre. I added oils but it still looked thirsty. I went on KZbin to research what I may be doing wrong cause hey, I'm inexperienced. Only to find out that one of the ingredients that is now added is Isopropyl Alcohol. This is the main ingredient of Rubbing alcohol. What is this doing in a leave in conditioner? I'm confused. And upset. So as of yesterday, I'm done with that product. I'm about to go wash it all out of my hair and start a new hair journey. Why, why, why!

You really came through with this one. Thank you for sharing the old school ors, that's the brand I couldn't remember. last time I used it was almost a decade ago. I loved the smell of the shampoo. I remember this lil leave in I used to use from Garnier, it was a turquoise bottle with a silver lid. I loved how my curls popped with that. I straightened my hair a lot in my early teens, had so much heat damage but it always bought my curls out with shingling & finger coiling & made it super soft when it dried.

I honestly have tried most of these other than the mane n tail. I have bought shea moisture products and hated spending $18 for like 8 oz (they worked amazing no doubt) but I can honestly say I get the same amount of moisture and result with cheaper products compared to expensive ones. For example Aussie moist and Cantu products give me the same exact results as shea moisture and it's hella cheaper. I can also use a lot and be heavy-handed without worrying about breaking my bank. If you're really concerned about natural ingredients it's honestly still cheaper to make your own conditioner and Shea Butters at home then to buy something like shea moisture. I'm not trying to bash on SheaMoisture but 15-18$ for 8 oz is ridiculous and they dont even be filling the bottle up all the waaaayyy. I don't like seeing other girls getting sucked into popular natural hair products when life is hard enough 😂😂 ofc if u got the money to spend girl do u. But it is possible to get popping natural hair on a budget ❤

I feel like with popluar brand hair products nowadays you paying and buying MORE FOR LESS. I don't like no product where I don't have it can get 3 or more usages out if it. With shea moisture 2 is the max. They don't be thinking about the girls With the really long and thick hair with them 4 or 8 oz high ass natural products.

Thank you for sharing. I actually have a few of the products you mention the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, the Aussie Moist and the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in. I recently purchase almost the whole line of the Cantu Shea Butter "For Natural Hair" line with the exception of the shampoo. Most of these products are under six dollars, with the shampoos and the light conditioners being under $5 (like $4.78) and everything else about $5.48 to $5.78. I love these products. I am always concerned because of the ingredients, however, with the Cantu Naturals lines, they are sulfate-free, paraben free, no mineral oils, no silicons, so I try my best to use products that are less harsh and not too many unknown chemicals. I am beginning to read labels and find out what the ingredients are. As always, a great video. Please continue to make them.

That is REALLY great that you are beginning to read the ingredients that are in your products. It can be really confusing and overwhelming at first but over time your eye naturally begins to weed out the ingredients you know your hair likes and it can make picking products to try that much easier. I am happy the video helped you!

I love hw you are calling these products "throwbacks" and folks, including myself, use thes products on a regular. They are staples in the natural hair community. The Creme of Nature Argan Oil products just came out a few years back and they continue to build upon that line because those products are like thier best sellers. Love a large majority of these products and keep them in rotation.

Yeah I definitely understand where you are coming from. I have been growing my natural hair for about 9 years now so seeing certain products that I used heavy at certain points of my journey just takes me back to the period of time that I used them. Kind of like how when you smell something from the past and all of those memories just come flooding back lol.

I picked up the Creme of Nature Argon oil shampoo and conditioner on a Friday and returned it on Sunday. It left my very thick, coarse 4c hair feeling like straw. I did get both at Walmart with the coupons for under $8.00, but I can't afford to waste even that amount of money.

ORS hair mayo isn't cheap anymore. I was mad to that $10 price tag but luckily they had the package for $1.57 at Wal-Mart. It's actually better for me to buy the package since I only deep condition every 2 months.

i really like the conditioners from lines like aussie/garnier/herbal essences, but they all contain silicones, which (for some reason) is the ONE ingredient i make a big effort not to put in/on my hair. but if you like natural products, have you tried trader joe's brand of tea tree shampoo/conditioner? i'd heard good things about them, & currently just have the conditioner, to try; & LET ME TELL YOU: the conditioner is AMAZING & will be your new fave cheap/"drugstore" detangling/leave-in conditioner!! i'd love to know what you think of them! :D

WAIT!!! Be careful what you buy. A lot of those products have silicones in them. Which aren't good for us low porosity girls. Because the moisture you think your getting is really just silicon designed to make your hair feel soft but just that ends up leaving behind build up. Which makes it harder to get real moisture (water) into the hair follicles and ultimately leaves behind dryness. Read labels ladies. Avoid products with ingredients that end in "cone", "xane","con", or "conol"!!!

Love this video. You featured products I have wondered about. I've only been transitioning since the first of the year so I'm just trying everything. You didn't mention OGX, but I've noticed how much they have gone up at both Target and Walgreens. I've seen most of the shampoos at Safeway for $5.99, but at Walgreens for $9.99.I've been at Giovanni fan for so long. Sometimes you can use your Bed Bath and Beyond coupons to save money, and since Whole Foods only keeps things on the shelves for so long - I have found their products for super cheap on sale. I am not a huge coupon girl, but it is so worth it to have the Target cartwheel app. Something can be on sale, with an additional amount off when you scan, plus a coupon. And if you use Ibotta… you'll end up getting it for free.
