@@aagalani I do not know where you are from. I lived and worked in Calcutta as a young man. I ate more rice than served here twice a day, bread, eggs, tea etc etc and still remained hungry. I weighed all of 42 kgs. Now I weigh 65 kgs and eat less than a quarter of all I ate then. Ofcourse I have a much more comfortable abd sedentary life now. So if I ate as much rice now, I would get all kinds of metabolic diseases Just the act of getting ready in the morning, boarding a local train and then a bus to get to the office and repeating it in the evening would make a person not used to that kind of life lie down for seven days. Many of these people are salesmen, taxi drivers, delivery boys and that kind of people. Walking one kilometer or traveling for two hours each way in 43 degree C heat and 85% humidity would suck out all your energy.

@@aagalani Talking of rickshaw pullers, they eat chickpea flour with some chillies and onions. They would have to eat kilos of rice to provide them enough energy. So they use cheaper and more energy dense foods.

@@TheBandana1969 Hi Brother, I don't mean to offend. I grew up in Mumbai and now reside in the U.S. I had a stent put in about 10 years ago. After much research, I discovered that people in the Indian subcontinent have one of the highest rate of diabetes, heart disease and hypertension. I am sure some genetics is involved but, more of it has to do with high saturated and high carb diet. If I can get the message to just one person, I would be happy. You may want to look up CADI research (if the organization still exists). Occasionally, I do enjoy good biryani and Roti and parathas, but I limit my intake.
