He probably just grabbed one from his back up set which is why he stuttered a bit at the start of the joke and then because he practiced it beforehand. Or it could've been sin e he'd been doing comedy for 8 years at that point so he had 1000s of jokes and just chose one of his favourites/best, To be a good comedian, you have to be quick on your feet with jokes when unexpected things happen which can make things funnier.
