Tried following the bars but couldn't do it. This rhythm is seriously intricate and mad respect to the dancers for following the rhythm. I knew rumba as a style, along with the music from the Suriname jungle has some of the most difficult rhythms and this is definitely on par with that. Absolutely awesome dance. Greetings from The Netherlands. (The video was just recommended to me, glad to see something totally different in there!)

Im Kenyan but Congolese music and dancing is downright the most African of all music. It is played in all the bars and discos here in Africa. The ratings here of 4.3 million viewers (that's what it was today), does not even reflect how much people listen to this music in Africa. Its more like 200 million because some countries - many people dont have access to data - we hear it on radio, when we go out etc. There is such a strength and power to it. We sing every word of these songs although we are not Congolese and dont understand it but it speaks clear and direct to every single African.

So much of your culture is also preserved, Mama Afrika still lives in the hearts, the minds, the soul and the blood of her children all over the world. It's interesting being an African looking into African American culture because i don't think you guys realize truly just how much of your African culture you have retained and continue to practice over the centuries. I was watching a few D9 fraternities and sororities and their stepping is so similar to dances in multiple African cultures, particularly the Zulus. Though you were robbed of so much of your history and culture, you have retained a lot of it and have created a new culture that brings pride and joy to all your brothers and sisters in the diaspora! We love and stand with our AFRICAN American brothers and sisters.

As an AA we often think that a lot of the things that we do in America has been created here by us but I'm starting to realize it has been "Innate" in us and comes out not knowing it stemmed from our people that we have long forgotten from Mother Africa. We are of the African Diaspora and our ancestors will not let us forget what or who we are.
