I was a little worried about installing the blade after reading a couple of reviews. But it was amazingly easy. Took about 1 minute. Works great kzbin.infoUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c . Cuts easily and is perfect for pocket cuts I needed to make for replacing some old deck boards.

Great to hear as I have just purchased the Dewalt version today. I bought it mainly for subway tiles as I’m a kitchen installer and thought it would save time and mess using a wet saw. Looks like it’s a lot more versatile and tougher than I thought.

Thank you for the hard work you do to compare these tools!!! Much appreciated! I'm deep deep in the Milwaukee system with a few dozen of their tools and batteries. I needed one of these but couldn't let the air go for the weak Milwaukee cut off. I did have 3 Dewalt tools not offered by Milwaukee but only 2 batteries. Your video pushed me over the edge to get the Dewalt and that thing is a BEAST! Got a deal a few months ago @ HD for 2 batteries, charger, bag, and cut off for $199. Thanks again for your work!

I'm in the Ridgid platform and use the little saw almost every day for tile work, mostly for quick cut-outs for shower fixtures and water lines, toilet flanges, electrical outlets, etc as well as cutting backer board (do it outside!). Because of the smaller blade you get more precise cuts vs a grinder. I never really use my grinder at work anymore for cuts. I also use it around the house all the time. Not sure if you missed it or not but the head rotates to give you difference angles. The Dewalt looks awesome, but I like being in one platform for work, keeps things simpler. Thanks for the comparison.

All I'm going to say here is that I'm a big M12 fan and have had the Milwaukee 3" saw since it was introduced and I'm headed to Home Depot today to buy the Dewalt. The Milwaukee is underpowered even for light jobs and blade changes can be annoying. Life is too short for bad tools.

Great video! TTC did a test on some of these tools and the Dewalt absolutely crushed the competition. It had like double or even triple the power of some of the competitors. As you said, Milwaukee really needs to step up their game and come out with an M18 version of this tool. Personally I own the Ryobi and while I’ve never cut half inch rebar with it, I have been impressed with its power when running 4AH HP batteries. Unfortunately all the HP batteries I have are 4AH, so I dunno how it would compare with a smaller or larger HP battery. The non HP batteries don’t work well in this tool. Thanks for the awesome video. I’m not in the Dewalt line but this tool makes me wish I was.

Thanks, yeah people though I was being biased when I released this video. The Dewalt is just that good, ryobi and rigid are definitely better over the Milwaukee hopefully they update it this year. I’m hoping to revisit this later this year. I built a dyno for testing like TTC but I’m using hydraulics to apply load and reading force/rpm.

Layout / functionality, and that all important blade depth. Not even the manufactures released that info. Also, as much as all this testing equipment brings a unbiased opinion to the table. Seeing the tools in a real world scenario is important too. As your setup matures and grows, this is one test I hope you keep.

I actually had to cut a dozen 1/2" rebar dowls for some concrete work last week, and to be fair, I was using one of the contractor's Ryobi HP tools, and it did not exhibit the fight you had. That Ryobi cut super fast like butter, and performed much like the Dewalt did in your video, but I was holding the rebar in one hand and the saw in the other. I am trying to decide which to one buy, but whatever brand I get, I have to invest in a new line of batteries for them. I'm leaning towards the Ryobi based off it's performance and price myself.
@Tools-Tested
@Tools-Tested 9 ай бұрын
I could really tell the difference with the Dewalt and TTCs video showed the same thing. That being said, the ryobi is a good value from a $ stand point. To me it really depends on which platform you want to grow with. I did pick another ryobi up, I’m currently working on a dyno for small high speed tools.

I've owned the Milwaukee for almost a year and it's a bummer when going through metals in general but it works well on tile and pvc. On metal I only use it for 3/8" rebar and 1/2" copper pipe and it does fine. On the other hand it won't even cut through 1/4" rolled steel without stalling 2-3 times. I'd love more power out of it but when the tasks get more difficult I get the angle grinder. Neither tool replaces the other but if you can only choose one go get the grinder.

This DeWalt cut off tool is awesome. I know some tile guys, they really appreciate this recent tool on the market I own and I've been using DeWalt, Makita, and Milwaukee tools and I like all of them. For the Overall the product line I like DeWalt the best. For certain tools like Sawzall or SDS hammer drill Milwaukee is fantastic. Circular saw or Planer Makita does geat... I used some Ryobi tools on somebody else's project, they are pretty much just a cheap hobby tool to me, I would never get one for sure. Several years ago when started I bought a Skil angle grinder, belt sander and a Bosch Hammer Drill (well, from the cheap line) they all soon ended up in the garbage.... That's how I learned my lesson... To be fair at work we have a stalled corded Makita sawzall.. That's weird, I don't know who used it or what happened... I'm using a M18 FUEL Hackzall of my own for tree trimming and some PVC pipe cutting, that is just a super awesome tool...

First, thank you for doing this! In your discussion at 8:30, I'm wondering why you say it's pretty close between Ryobi and Ridgid, and later put them on par with each other, when the Ryobi times were nearly 2x the Ridgid times. 15 vs 8 and 13 vs 7 are pretty substantial differences. Further, the Ridgid was only 3 seconds slower than the Dewalt (8 vs 5) where the Ryobi was 10 seconds slower (15 vs 5). Am I missing something? Otherwise, it would seem more fair to say that Ridgid was a close 2nd to Dewalt with Ryobi far back in 3rd place with times being 2x the Ridgid and 3x the Dewalt. Again, thanks for all your efforts.

I own the Milwaukee and have test fit the Ryobi and Ridgid in the store. The Milwaukee is significantly lighter and smaller. I wish you would have put the weight with batteries as well, because the M12 will be much lighter at that point. Having said that, the Milwaukee is definitely for light duty use. It cuts out if you really push it. Just like their piece of junk die grinder. But I would never think of using it for rebar. I'll just grab my full size grinder for that. But the Milwaukee is good for small items. I like that DeWalt is starting to get their act together. I left them for Milwaukee after tons of issues with their tools and batteries. Never once had a Milwaukee battery failure, so it would take a lot more than a copycat cutoff tool to make me switch back. What's interesting is how much effort TTI is putting into Ridgid lately. The pricing is so close to Milwaukee these days, it doesn't make sense to go with Ridgid until you see their warranty. Of course, I've heard you have to go through the registration crap, but still.
@Tools-Tested
@Tools-Tested 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I probably should have done it with/without battery's. With the CP.2 the battery is about 7oz lighter than the rest. But if you add the XC 4.0 then its only about 1oz lighter battery wise. I agree, all are defiantly for light duty use, I only cut rebar with it so I could push them to their limit. I have smoked a few regular grinders cutting bar. A rebar shear is the fastest and easiest but they are not cheap. I too stoped buying Dewalt a while ago, running a mix of Ridgid, Bosch and M12. Ridgid can be tricky when it comes to registering the tools, but from my personal experience the lifetime on batteries is well worth it. I have warranted a few over the years. I believe Ridgid is owned my Emersion Electric and they have an agreement with TTI to produce tools for them. While TTI owns Milwaukee and Ryobi.

I'm a big fan of Milwaukee M12 and Ridgid. M12 for light to medium and Ridgid 18v for heavy duty. In all fairness, the Milwaukee M12 cutter is competing against the other 18v, so it's not bad for 12v. My M12 favorite is the Milwaukee Fuel brushless hex impact driver as I've never had to switch to the 18v Ridgid driver for any screws yet, even 4". That's with the small M12 battery too. I haven't tried lag bolts with it, but I bet it can kick some butt with that too. Being that I don't want to have lots of different batteries because of different brands, I'm sticking with the 2 mentioned. Anyway, I'm going for the Ridgid 18v cutter so I can use my plethora of Ridgid batteries. Second place is fine. Thanks for a great review.
