I think he gradually feared being that close. At the beginning he was steadier, and began shaking more once the pack split up and started losing control, sliding closer to him. I'd be pretty nervous standing that close also.

There is no reason to have an official, a videographer and whoever else in the infield at the intersection. Those concrete blocks may or may not be enough protection from an out of control car. They are going to get someone killed or hurt there for no reason...imo
