I'm greatly enjoying your videos. tHanks for posting. I'm currently perplexed as to how to apply foam panels under my existing siding. Made a video about it asking others for advice. (The consensus is to forget insulation, and move into the shed during the cold of winter and the heat of summer).

Hey Dancing Alone - The wall sheathing of many houses today has rigid foam board over it, while the inside has fiberglass batts fastened between the studs. There are a number of options for siding that can be installed over rigid foam, including cedar or redwood planks, exterior plywood sheets, cement fiber board, or vinyl siding. Oriented strand boards are often sheathed with 2-by-4-inch studs spaced 16 inches apart. Over foam, brick or cedar shakes require furring strip adaptation, according to the Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy. We hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching. We have a crawl space with a few blockers for support of the house so it's not wide open. If we install a dehumidifier as close to the center and add a couple of small fans would that do the job? Maybe put the fans on a timer? We do also have digit sensors as well in a couple of places.

Also, you may want to exhaust the outflow to the tightest areas of the space to ensure the moisture is being rotated around. Just putting one in without a exhaust vent going somewhere just conditions the area around the unit.

Installed the e80, here in north Dakota our average humidity is 60-80 percent. Air conditioner just doesn't cut it. The e80 was easy diy install keeps the entire 2600 sq foot house at a perfect 45 %

Yes, it can just be leveled and plugged in. Ducting is helpful if you need to direct the dehumidified air into specific areas of the crawl space or if you need additional sound dampening.

I really need something like this but for the inside of my house for a smaller area. I don't like the all plastic crap ones that are on the market for inside of the home. I'm renting; I do not have the ability to put it in a crawl space. I need it in the bedroom. Especially for the winter. I've been searching and searching I just don't want to buy the $200 crap ones that almost always fail. I hope someone has an idea and they could give me a suggestion?!

I work for another company and I am on a liner crew. For the past two years all I've done is vapor barriers and encapsulations. We do a very good job as far as quality, but I've noticed from your information and content, we could be doing things differently. We are located in south carolina, so you would be familiar with our climate region. I've often thought about going out on my own and trying to start up a small business, I want to do the absolute best job possible. With that small bit of background, I would like to know what the reasoning behind hanging a dehue from the joists. At work, we usually buy some 4inch or 8inch blocks and seal them up with the pvc sealing tape from crawlspace depot. then level the unit on those blocks within the crawlspace. I know its very affective but it's tacky in my opinion. I've seen the cone shaped stands that have a more appealing look, but I haven't used those and I'm not sure if they are as stable as the blocks. We use Aprilaire dehues. I've seen them hung from unistruts or the threaded studs with a bracket on the bottom, and they seem to create a vibration or sound issue for homeowners. and I've seen them hung from a rope or what appears to be paracord. I'm just not sure how safe that is to hang a $1200-$2000 unit from. I like how thorough you are at explaining things and how in depth you go with certain topics. I would like to see crawlspace ninja do a video on this if there isn't one already. Or if you have a video covering this could you paste a link for me?

Also we found that hanging a 60-120lb unit may make some homeowners feel uneasy. What we do now is level on the crawl space floor!

How many and what size dehumidifiers do I need to control a 7200sq ft 17 foot tall insulated metal building on the Oregon coast ?

I'd look at using at least 2 E130s, maybe 4 but try two 1st, you can add more if needed. They are rated for 4400 sq feet with 8 feet ceiling. diy.crawlspaceninja.com/aprilaire-e130-dehumidifier
