As a fellow blue mage who's used to sometimes long turns at the end, I appreciate CGB for his smooth and quick way on that last turn. It was so professional, and it's nice because sometimes when you're obviously gonna win a game with friends, you don't want to drag out a final turn, so going for the throat and making it less painful is good (for the friendships too lol) I just appreciated that. Happy new year everybody!

The Mnemonic Deluge copies the card but you still must cast the copies, so on-cast triggers such as Rhystic Study's ability will still see the spells being cast. It's different from something like a Double Cast which puts copies on the stack of a spell that is already on the stack. Interestingly, the card copies do exist in/on the stack before casting them, if I am not mistaken.

I do believe the trigger that makes the copies goes on stack, and then you can choose to cast, but the card itself doesn’t go on stack till you cast, but ye came to comments to see if others picked up on that (doesn’t really matter I think tho)

Also, each copy needs to have its targets put on the stack at resolution of Mnemonic Deluge. They shortcut it, and did each individually, but it still requires timing rules to occur.

@@mathmoril only because it doesn’t matter I had to delve further ;) 707.12 from the comprehensive rules has a part that says, “except that the copy is created in the same zone the object is in and then cast while another spell or ability is resolving.” Which means that the card copies are created in the Exile zone since Mnemonic Deluge exiled the card first. So, this would then matter for things that care about casting things from exile, in particular, right? Things like Passionate Archaeologist and Nalfeshnee.

CGB couldn't attack Blake with Magus Lucea Kane because he didn't control her since the begining of his turn. There's also the triggers on the cast copies already mentioned in other comments. Otherwise, it was a great game of Archnemesis guys !

Fortunately shouldn't matter. Could have used lighting greaves on it, killed blake. Only niv-mizzet dmg he couldn't send to Shea that turn (as Niv also were summoning sick if I remember correctly). Total possible damage at last turn would still have been enough even with that extra 4 life.

CGB was sooo dominating this game! I love Locust God and Xyris as commanders. Really fun to play :) Haven't played against Tyrannids yet but they look strong too if they get a lot of mana. Kinda wondering why Goblin Bombardment triggers weren't targeting the planeswalkers, can hit any target with it. Also Ben should've attacked the planeswalkers with all those flyers (turn after Blatant Thievery 1) while Ghostly Prison was up as it only protects you from attacks and not the planeswalkers you control. Xyris would've blocked Locust God but still 3 damage to the planeswalker could've made a good difference in finishing them off. Well played everyone, was a cool game!

I will say, the Tyranid deck with a Lucea focus works tremendously well if you add untap engines to the deck; with them, she quickly generates an absurd amount of mana to put into an X spell that gets copied a ridiculous amount of times which, with Ravenous, also turns into a great source of card advantage.

Really enjoyed watching my favourite commander control this game. ElWINster is such a great card often overlooked by people, very versatile, insane card selection and advantage. Can win by going wide and pump with a candlekeep inspiration, Approach of the second sun which can be cast and retrieved and cast in 1 turn without too many pieces and can go infinite with displacer kitten and mystic speculation to draw your deck and win by jace/labman/Thoracle.

At 29:30, isn't the vigilant token a 14/14? Because Blasphemous Act only deals 13 damage, so it not being blocked (or targeted by Bombardment) is a pretty big thing to forget.

Good match. Liked the power level of the decks and counters and board wipes to keep things clean. On the triple copy the steal all the stuff spell I think you ha e to announce all the targets when you put the copies on the stack prior to resolution so there is opportunity to tap the Monolith or sac stuff to the Bombardment unless I'm missing something (not familiar with that specific card or the one that copied it.)

The error was that it doesn't instantly cast 3 copies. It creates them, and lets you cast them without paying their mana cost. The copies are all cast separately (so the Rhystic Studies and Remora would still trigger), but because they're all cast one by one, targets only need to be announced when you cast and resolve each one.

Ghostly prison doesn't prevent attacking planeswalkers at anyway, you might want play sphere of safety if you want that kind of thing. Also, I would like to see how Adeline would work on your games, it's actually good mono white aggro deck just make sure read it right since it triggers any attack you make, not just adeline herself. Plus on multiplayer you get 1/1 human attack everyone.

CGB paid for rhystic study using a floating mana from Sol Ring. He was basically saying "because I got a discount from Elminster, I can pay for the rhystic study"

Dang, gg's. Hind sight is 20/20, but as soon as Ben countered Shay's commander, I immediately thought it was a mistake...turns out, he really could've used that counterspell against his most dangerous opponent. Generally I think they should gang up on CGB much sooner when he's playing a dominant blue deck like this one but instead they weirdly spent the first half of the game weakening each other.

The Copies from Mnemonic Deluge would have triggered Rhystic Study and Mystic Remora, even though they are copies, Mnemonic Deluge just lets CGB cast them for free, but are still cast. as it reads "You may cast the copies without paying their mana costs." or am I wrong here?

Subtlety couldn't target Purphoros since it's not a creature and is an enchantment and won't be a creature until it's devotion is met.
