Best defenders from eredivisie are below average in top5 leagues. This league is known for being attack orientated not defence. Trauner is making some silly mistakes like this weekend against Cambuur or against Vitesse in Arnhem. Don't get me wrong - he's GREAT defender when you compare him to aces like sven van beek, van der heijden, ie, spajic or botteghin - defenders that Feyenoord had to suffer playing with for too many years. In comparison to them he's like greek god, improvement is huge - but reality of defenders in top5 leagues is another level really. Dutch league is little bit walk in the park not top football - but its entertaining - a lot of nice goals happen there.

You are right the step between the best from the Champions League and the best Eredivisie players is to big. Technical are the Eredivisie players really good, but I prefer that they don't take a direct step into the best of Europa, but at 'lower' teams like Everton, Atalanta and Villarreal. I can say enough names that failed at the top and who actually succeeded. So it is a bit of both.

Stop it. Senesi, Trauner, Ramalho and Boscagli can easily play for team that plays for the 6-10 spots in a top competition. Timber and Martinez even higher.
