The basic concept is brilliant. 8 inches of water in the bucket would be nice. The cardboard could be one piece. Peanut butter at the far edge , requires no glue. For a counterweight, perhaps a small bell, so the creator can be reminded of another success. I will try this with sheet plastic, but not full coverage of the top, so they have to get on the teeter totter. I would install a little welcome sign. Perhaps an arrow leading to " Free Lunch". Now, if I only had rats,,,,

instead of the wire I use two screws, just stuck em into each sides of the cardboard. no need to glue them on imo. I also used tape instead of the glue (gun). and as someone already stated below: turn the bucket up side down and place it on the cardboard to get a more accurate circle. good luck. PS filling the bucket with water and letting the mouse drown is probably not the most human way of killing.

Here in Norway a woman made a similar mouse trap. Instead of the cardboard plate she used a coca cola can that rotated on a piece of wire. The mouse would walk onto the cola can, it would rotate and the mouse fell down. In the bucket she had water so the mouse would drown. She was convicted in court for animal cruelty.

I had to mute the music, too. Working my nerves. I just set up the peanut butter + water bucket for today. This contraption is so cool I might try it tomorrow!

Nice design I might try building one myself to catch some mice and release then someplace further away.

This is nice technique without giving any harm to them, as I am animal lover bt in my house 4mouse are there, and they disturbed me too much. 😂😂😂 I ll use this technique tomorrow.

Set this up, glued granola on the lid. Checked this morning, they had eaten it off the glue and no mice fell in 🤣🤣 we are dealing with some very clever mice....
