Probably 15 years ago there was kid at the beach that works the dock during summer, probably around 13, and he would do this when boats came to fill up with fuel or grab something from the store. Very impressive no matter who’s doing it.
@KT-en8pq5 жыл бұрын
I grew up on the docks and lived aboard. Needless to say I've handled a line plenty. I've never seen anyone do that. Very cool, and for all you "that isn't proper" technique, I agree. However, when speed counts, and it does when docking short hand in wind, I'd rather have her. It can always be made correct after the boat is secured.

That type of line of work is very common in places with lots of rental boats that need a fast turnaround. It’s very common to see that in busy marinas as a fast temporary solution to tying off a boat.

In windy conditions blowing you away from the dock. You can stand on deck and swirl the dock line around the cleat. Jumping onto the dock and trying hold a large boat is dangerous. Good video.

It's really quite easy to learn. When I was in SD on a sail boat with my dad as a kid, I saw the dock guy do it like she did. I practiced and was able to do it by the end of the day. You just need to learn how to get the loop to fall on the cleat right to finish.
@ro43176 жыл бұрын
Impressive to watch but totally incorrect procedure in many ways.
@zitin4845Күн бұрын
Not quite as long as you know what you are doing making sure the rope is tight between dock and boat
