Pick me up Blink, I need you so bad. I'm still gutted Tom has departed, I actually dreamt that I asked Tom if he'd consider taking a year off from AvA to finish the Blink album or do another EP and to do a farewell tour, then he can continue with AvA after. He told me he'd think about. I hope this dream does come true. :)

Tom is singing along to a backing track in the Chorus, that's the only reason it sounds better. This is why I wish I'd never studied music, makes you spot stuff like that and it becomes a curse!
@birdtheword783610 жыл бұрын
its only because its being filmed on tv. lenny kravitz or however you spelled his name was there. he had to perform the same song twice because of technical difficulties with the recording. but when blink performs on the tour they do not sing to a backing track its nothing but their raw talent. your dont have to study music to notice they're are singing along to something.
@andrewbielec935310 жыл бұрын
Same here man haha it sucks
@philkasafir10 жыл бұрын
ryan I You're wrong, dude. No offense, but I am trained to hear these things. I'm not saying you suck for not noticing, not many people do, all I'm saying is don't study music production because it makes you gain disappointment in your favourite bands. More do it than you think, the latest one I noticed was Devin Townsend... But he can actually sing, that's the thing. He doesn't need to. Tom cannot sing, that doesn't mean I don't like Blink, but Tom definitely cannot sing. From Enema of the state up until now all his vocal recordings on the albums are auto-tuned. Auto tune is the anti-christ to me ;)
@philkasafir10 жыл бұрын
You know the Album "The Tom, Mark & Travis show"? That entire album is fake. It was made in a studio and the audience were edited in. It's not hard to spot, there are several clues... But the main ones being that you can't hear anyone singing in the audience, just cheers and screams. These are faded in and out gradually, then there's the fact that Tom has NEVER sounded that good on stage in all his career. It's too perfect, no one can sing that perfectly while hammering a guitar. He doesn't even get out of breath.
@JackAstralGames10 жыл бұрын
silverflish did you actually study music? because every thing you just said is completely wrong. the tom, mark and travis show was recorded at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. it isn't fake at all. :I

I think it's one of their best live performances due to their singing/playing along with a track underneath them. You can hear the way Tom's voice is doubled in the chorus and that reverse-piano affect in the 2nd verse (like it is on the cd)... So he gets to sing along with himself, which is a BIG help for him these days... Doesn't mean it don't like it though. Go blink!!

When they recorded this album Travis had to leave Tom and Mark alone on the set for about a month or so, cause he had something with The Transplants. Travis recorded some random drum rhythms and Tom and Mark had to chose one for every song. This is why some songs have similar drums. Also, if you go on and listen to every album you'll hear that every member had his own special way of playing in that album.

This was just a live overdub, playing to a backing track........I bet the stereo version sounded even bigger because of the doubled guitars and all, that's why, but at least it made them sing in key, but i think Tom could've just harmonized with mark on the bridge to not make it that obvious.
@guillermonavarrete97569 жыл бұрын
Shut up kid....
@tylerrivas99229 жыл бұрын
rockboy360 Well what was being used was a type of live auto tune, there are multiple guitar tracks in the back, but that's not uncommon for a band with only one guitarist. Tom isn't the greatest vocal wise, so they were trying something to make it sound a little more enjoyable.
@shady80999 жыл бұрын
rockboy360 i think every known artist overdubs dude
@rockboy3609 жыл бұрын
not all, u can notice differences in the stereo image, and sometimes they improvise or extend the songs, sometimes the go a little faster some other times a little slower, whenever u hear that means that it's not overdubbed. It's pretty hard to find great sounding live bands nowadays.
@shady80999 жыл бұрын
Notice how it's only overdubbed on the chorus? It's because that requires the most effort, it's only there to help the singer sound like the original recording, it's not louder than the actual singer at all. It's basically backup vocals. Rihanna does it in every one of her concerts. Most singers do it. Bands don't usually do it as often.

Yea it's supposed to be fun, but its not when people are shaking their behinds on public television, and vulgarity and rap, and the same things over and over!! VMA's would be alright if they had a pop performer, rock performer, anybody from different genres, all I saw was the same rap shit tonight.
@mklschwrtz212 жыл бұрын
Actually, if we're gonna talk real punk then we're talking about The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Exploited, Toy Dolls and Misfits. To name a few. neither Rancid, Ramones, Blink or Sum counts as real punk. Even though Ramones are kind of the start of all punk music, they where actually a failed glamrock band who got to do their own thing when they couldn't play what they wanted to play from the start. All bands these are great though.
@CugnoBrasso12 жыл бұрын
Indestructible is all but a punk album, come on, what's the next ultra punk band you're going to mention, sex pistols? I don't dislike rancid, but you're here to show off that you're a true punk guy, or something like this as far as I can see, in this case you could have at least mentioned agnostic front or the adicts... Well never mind, I wonder how old you are. Just listen to what you like and let everyone listen to what they like, I don't see that much of a problem.
@nrm882112 жыл бұрын
Yeah usually bands who use autotune use it very lightly because the singers actually know how to sing. Hip hop artists just overdo the autotune on purpose to give it that digital sound. Yeah Tom has definitely changed his vocal style. I respect it though. He said in an interview somewhere he finally figured out how to sing properly and he said it's made him a better singer. Most people just associate it with Angels & Airwaves because both happened at the same time.
@nrm882112 жыл бұрын
Yeah bands having been using autotune for years actually, it's just people never really picked up on it until rap/hip hop started using it. It sounds like they layered their vocal tracks. You can really hear it in the chorus where Mark sounds like he's harmonizing with himself. They're both good enough singers they don't really need autotune live. But I know at least Tom uses it recorded.
@Jolteon712 жыл бұрын
Green Day does the same. The Ramones did that same. go complain somewhere else. Tom, along with every other guitarist in a famous band, is obviously a very good guitarist, otherwise they wouldnt be famous. go look at songs like M+M's, The Rock Show, or Dammit. you wouldn't have come up with catchy shit like that if you tried. i know i'll have to work on writing catchy shit like that.
@xXxtaexXx114 жыл бұрын
@kingoftheworld656564 Tom sounds better on the ablums because when people record albums they get to sing parts of songs over and over till they get it to sound like they want to. People dont record a song all the way through, they do it in parts usually. Like they will record the guitar on a serperate track then they do the bass on serperate track and so on. then they do some eq and maybe put some effects like reverb and then they mix it and master it so it sounds perfect.
@xXxtaexXx114 жыл бұрын
dude u guys gotta relealize that when people record albums they do like a bunch of takes of songs to get it just right and they mix it and master it and do some eq and effects to the music to make it sound better. So like 95% of bands don't sound as good as they do on the album. in this performence they have an effect called chorus on toms voice when he sings the chorus so its sounds a little better. And no he isnt auoto- tuned because this was before auot- tune was availiable for live concerts.
