BEST DRIVEN HUNT RIFLES 2024 - A buyer's guide to 12 different rifles developed for driven hunts

The set-up is simple, I want to find out which rifle every manufacturer recommends for driven hunts in 2024. I went to the IWA Outdoor Classics in Nürnberg, Germany to met all the brands that attended the show.
The rules are simple:
I visit their booth and ask: "If I shall buy a rifle of your brand and use it only for driven hunts, what rifle do you recommend and why is it good for driven hunt?"
Every manufacturer gets 2 min to answer this question.
Neither I nor the manufacturers can say which rifle is best for driven hunts. It's up to you as a hunter to determine which rifle suits you and your circumstances best. However, I hope that this guide on 12 different rifles for driven hunts can assist you in making a decision. These 12 rifles represent a good selection of different types of firearms, such as straight-pull, bolt-action, semi-automatic rifles, double rifles, and pump-action rifles. He had an orange Beretta BRX1, We didn't have that option. Mine ended up being an all black. Now, Just have to figure out how to slip the bolt in and out, then I am good to go.

The Benelli guy never mentioned the ARGO. Hello! Nothing like a semi-auto in driven shooting. Mine in 308Win calibre. I like the BAR and the Sauer 303 as well. I’d never choose a bolt/straight pull/pump over a semi-auto in European driven shoots. Super fast follow up shots.

The argo is one of the most reliable semi auto gun in my book esp for driven hunts… i own one in 30.06.. i was little surprised that he preffered the lupo for driven hunts..

i use a zoli o/u 9.3 by 73R on all driven game and will out perform all straight pulls for speed and accuracy on 2 shots at ranges up to 300 meters and more

Great round! Puts them down with authority. 300m- wow! Having said that, I shot a three position match last Saturday with the ARGO. I was amazed at how accurate it was, even with a hot barrel at 300m. I’ve never shot any animal with it beyond about 80m.

That savage straight pull is like pulling teeth. Imo lightweight and short is not a driven hunt or standhunting rifle. You want some weight and length for a better swing.

I agree with you that a driven hunt rifle need som weight and length. What I think many of the manufacturer is thinking about is that a lot of hunters in Europe use silencer, and the take that into consideration when making the rifle short, the silencer will add weight and length. Some of those straight pull rifles should be crossed for parts. the Merkel should have a adjustable cheek riser and a 30mm see through scope mount to utilize both the iron sights and a scope with a small objective lense to allow for correct viewing /alignment of iron sights within scope ring opening and height of sights to match🤔😏👍👊😎

I'm not 100% certain of the definition of a Bullpup, but is it not that the magasin is behind the trigger mechanism? In that perspective this is a bullpup. This is a straight pull bolt action, normally a bullpup is as far as I know a semi or auto mechanism. //Tobias

Nej, inte så vitt jag vet. Visst, sen fanns det lite andra udda märken. Några ville inte medverka, som t.ex. Jakele, som ansåg att deras vapen var främst för smyg/vakjakt. Sen fanns det som vanligt tjogvis med turkiska tillverkare. Hoppade faktiskt över dem, men i efterhand kände jag att man kunde haft med en eller två, dock hade jag svårt att sålla ut vilken i så fall. Howa var också där, men hade ingen som pratade engelska i montern, min tyska och deras svenska var lite knagglig... ;-) Ha en bra dag! Tobias

As far as I know there is no "Best rifle", because it varies from hunter to hunter. You can always argue that a rifle you own, train and know is the best rifle, but if you do not like it or you shot badly with it, then you need to reconsider and maybe look for something else.... ;-) //Tobias
