BEST E39 Speaker Upgrade? BavSound Stage 1 Kit Unboxing, Install, + SOUND TEST!

This has been a long awaited mod for me, since the factory stereo speakers are almost completely blown on my car, and the sound quality was terrible. Seems like you have a leak or had a leak in the rear part of the wagon. I had the same issue and after investigating turned out that it was the antenna right on the roof there letting in water and running down. Also recommend replacing the hatch and hatch glass seals too cause mine were leaking but looked perfect

Yep! Those wagons love to leak in the rear. Mine had the water getting in through the deteriorated fuel cap locking grommet, tail light gaskets, antenna and third brake light.

I got left tail light seals leaking. Had vapor barrier issues i just fixed, front throtel cable hole by wiper motor leaked... still chasing a leak that comes from inside of the vent under the drivers seat... happens in the rain. Car hasnt run in months... still scratching my head. (I know how to clean out the evap / a.c. tray... woukd be a great video series

HEY!!! YOUR DOOR ISNT STICKY. Its actually that the door seals make the door pull out on the latch pin. If you apply pressure with one hand where the latch is. Then simultaneously GENTLY pull the handle with the other hand... opens smooth. You will bust your door pulling like that. As you jam that handle hard, your doing that same motion to take the load off the pin when you get "lucky." (Same issue old 80's saabs and v.w.'s had, always the rear doors are first to go.. ) whats the fix? You tell me.

A little tip on e39 door handles (at least from my experience on european market cars) the facelift cars have a plastic door handle while pre-facelift have metal ones, which are sturdier. Discovered by accident while repairing both of the left side door handles that just wouldn't open

Got an e39 wagon…non dsp, got the stage 1 kit but the bass is distorted in the mid moofers, luckily the highs sound pretty good, what are the recommend eq settings?

You'd probably want to look elsewhere for info like that. Going off the head unit he put in there this dude doesn't care that much about sound quality enough to do any EQ

I see that you have the Eonon head unit, which I have as well. I want to replace the factory amplifier in the left side of the trunk, did you do that as well for this install? I’m assuming you didn’t, I’m just trying to figure out how I can incorporate a new amplifier with the Eonon head unit. I think I’ll need some type of DAC from the head unit to the new amp?

Bought these for my ZhP sedan, however I want to upgrade my Amp. Every1 tells me stick Amp is hard to upgrade because of its location. Not sure what AMP pairs really good with stage 1 speakers

I bought 1998 e39 535i with No factory added DSP and empty (fake ) tweeters, just 4 regular speakers, with white paper clothing :( So i wanted to upgrade my speakers together with Px5 android 8.0 , but unfortunately, all wiring and cables is not installed in car from factory, even for future upgrade, i was shocked!

My 1997 e39 had horrible sound! I couldn’t believe it. Fm sounded like nice am sound. If that makes sense? Being on a budget, I took a chance that the ten speakers and the original power amp would be okay. I replaced the head unit with a pioneer. It sounds good. Not great, but decent. Now I think I might have blown one of my rear deck speakers. It sucks, because it’s a bmw! It should have asskicking sound from the factory! It has alpine components, and blaupunct too. I am old school in that I don’t want big thumping subwoofers in boxes in the trunk. I like the clean installed factory look. So, I have some decisions to make. Problably, all new speakers. Maybe, a new amp, or, maybe no amp? Maybe, more expensive headunit? Idk? I looked at crutchfield and they have nice options too. I am Open to suggestions.

Note, the cone whether rigid paper - is a rigid piece, the surround and spider (under the cone), move and affect sound performance, your comments about the “looks” of the speaker are interesting, but not relevant to sound performance. The “flexing” parts (surround and spider) wear out, otherwise a good r/r install video. Thank you!
