As much as I do love the Ken Onion. This WorkSharp Pro tool has honestly been the best investment I have made for sharpening. FYI, I bought an extra ceramic stone and some 3M lapping sheets to put a very high level of polish on some knives. Please keep sharing these videos with us. Your wife is a solid gem and her straight up honesty and deadpan delivery has both my wife and I in stitches. I love how she will do a random camera look... and it's like... (you need to stop talking) ROFL! You folks are amazing, god bless and keep the colab efforts up.

Great series of videos! The interactions between the two of you has an absolutely enchanting level of trust and honesty. The one thing I would add to the video would be a reaction shot of your wife using the newly sharpened blade. I'm guessing that the first time she uses that knife for cooking will be an amazing experience for her.

Another great collab video ! Demonstrating that the "mystical" art of sharpening can be mastered with just a gentle nudge here & there (after a fair size cash outlay). Tree you add so much to my favorite knife channel. The interaction between you two is a joy to witness. Also liked the tattoo tour as I was wondering about them from the last couple of postings. Tree you are getting better at the paper slice test. Looking forward to more in this series.

Watching the glee in your eyes as you lasered that paper into smaller and smaller squares effortlessly was very satisfying for knife collectors (hoarders?) like me. I’ve felt that satisfaction many a time. It may be a bit tedious at times while you’re doing it, but the end result is an impressive and useful tool. Gad, the double entendres write themselves. Sorry! 😬

Everyone seems to make knife sharpening a unique personal experience. I compare this to how people soak their garden using a garden hose. Some use a rapid motion all over the garden as if having a seizure while others use a slow controlled motion. The point being that as long as the garden is watered it really doesn't matter. That kitchen knife was not going to get any sharper so well done. Sorry for mansplaining but I just had "clevis" womansplained to me. I've heard that type of swivel referred to as a ballcrank but that reference would have led to unnecessary humor.

G'day Pete & Wifey, fantastic stuff once again !!! I do think Wifey was correct, also once again ; ) a sweep action is preferable to, push/pull, in the interests of true symmetry i.e. what you do to one side, should be the same as on the other; and it's far more likely to achieve horizontally rather than more random jerks vertically at a micro level. But hey, still a great outcome as you've shown many times Pete and in fairness too, direction does matter less with harder steels. Really look'n forward to the blade grinder attachment vid, I havent gone with that yet; A; the longer belts are a bit more pricey and B. not sure it's gonna add so much more capability to justify the purchase. I do like a wheel too, a la Tormak, obviuosly for a concave, rather than convex edge; have you ever tried a MDF disc ? Anyway, a fantastic series out of left field, very useful and entertaining at the same time, .............. on top of your other million or so rippers ; ) Cheers Duke. P.S. I really dig skin art, but personally I reckon up on the wall is more conducive to swapping 'em out for a change ; )

I love the search for the best knife and my wife doesn’t understand why I buy another and another. I don’t understand her buying another outfit and another. Depends on what your interests are I guess. I grew up with 2 pairs of shoes at a time so when I started working I bought lots of shoes to compensate I guess. At one point I had 50 pairs of shoes. Now I pretty much have enough knives and shoes so don’t buy much anymore. Like you I am more interested in using what I have than collecting more. Enjoying this series- thank you.

I’m lead to believe the reasoning behind going one direction with the stone rather than back and fourth is that you are pushing material away from the edge as you are sharpening it. I.e the usual method of going in the direction of edge to spine. Where as going spine to edge means you are pushing material towards the edge and could develop a wire edge?

Women are wired to have many tasks going at once. That's why knife sharpening isn't generally a big hit, it's like having a 16 core processor and only using a core or two. Conversely men generally love knife sharpening because it's something useful that allows us to hyperfixate, and unload overworked cores. This concludes my Ted talk, thank you

Show her how to use the USB microscope. I think that will emphasize the contrast between before sharpening and after sharpening as well as how the different grits effect the scratch patterns and the edge becomes refined and more durable.. I did that with one of my brothers the other day and it made it very clear. What is fun is to turn the blade while looking at it with the microscope until the microscope is pointed at the edge itself. Ideally, the picture will turn entirely black because the sharper the edge the less light it reflects.

I woudnt pay 500 bucks either for that Worksharp either 😂 I think youre wife is right. If you can hold youre youre angle etc that worksharp is just waste of money. All you need is a two sided diamond plate 20€ and a leather strop on a wooded two by four. 10€ and You can do round shapes on paper arc and shave youre beard with that knife. Sharpening knives doesnt have to be expensive instead of something everyone cant do. Still nice sharpening tools you have but very much over priced but very very nice.
