I have owned the original Alter Bag but it wasn't weather proof at all. The key selling point was the durability of lugging Evolve and Backfire boards but also my full face Ruroc helmet. The Atsa has my attention now that I see there is also a helmet net. Thank you for the review!

I’m afraid I totally disagree on most points about the ATSA compared to the Alter bag. 1 the Alter bag is not waterproof and if you’re planning to bring expensive gear like a drone or a camera or a gimbal it will be totally useless. I’d be mad if I found the wet at the end of my ride 2 the ATSA front load system allows you to safely and easily pack in all your filming gear without having to pull everything out everyone to take what’s at the bottom of it. 3 I find the multiple pockets very useful to stain easily store at retrive what you need anytime 4 the price: considering the level of protection and accessibility to whatever you store inside the backpack I’d rather spend 100£ more and have my drone and camera safely stored. 5 As for the skateboard holding system I find the ATSA sturdier and the extra strap doesn’t bother me at all especially compared to the flimsy Alter bag strap Said that, maybe if you just need a bag to bring some water and a hoodie with you the Alter bag is just perfect but if you’re planning to take some videos or bring anything bit more expensive ATSA is at different level

i got the alter bag in the large size and while i love the bag it's easy to rip mainlky in the side pockets and the middle clamp for the roll top and it hangs alote ( sags ) even if i would pref a stable and more robust bag like the atsa not sure i can actually afford the big incress in price personaly sens i only have 1 board atm i only use the bag when i have to carry the board

one year later and the atsa bag costs 225 while the alterbag is now $180 if it were still $150 this choice would be a lot easier to make but the increase in price of the alter bag which to me is too simple. seems like there's not enough pockets for me to separate my wires books tablets and laptops from each other, instead its just one huge pocket with very few separation features. the only thing that bothers me about the atsa is it is like he said a little too over engineered. there seems to be one or two more steps to do anything with the atsa compared to the alter bag and why is everything orange in the atsa bag 🤮
