I went for the Renault engine just because in my paralell F1 world, my team is a client team of Renault, which makes us the only client team for that engine. The others have at least one other team, while in the real world, Alpine is the only team rocking the Renault engine.

From somebody who used the ferrari engine for almost a season now: I feel like it's great in accelaration out of low and medium speed corners but kinda struggles in the high speed corners, and while battling other ferrari engines this seems to be the case to although it can also be because of other things. Comparing with my friends the durability is a lot better, however I only participate in one practice session where I complete all the programs before skipping the rest. Still the difference seems to be way bigger than just those 2 additional practice sessions as halfway through the season I was still using my second set while my friends were at the end of the third set

@@itsmeJUMBO yeah he used the merc, although my friends with Honda also have problems (but not that bad). There also seems to be a pretty big difference at what parts are getting worn, his ICE dies after 3 weekends while the others have a high, but rather normal rate of 4-6 race weekends

@@jasper_f1655 The difference in wear could be down to the quick practice feature if you guys are using that, I've had a few people tell me the amount of wear they are getting from doing the quick practice is extremely high!! so it could be due to that. I'm hoping that this is just a bug that will fixed at some point

I chose Renault, because I didn't know how much of a difference the price makes. I didn't know what else was about to be needed to purchased. And I think it's not that unrealistic for a new team to not go with the most expensive engine ;). So of course, I knew it had the worst performance, but for the sake of economy and immersion I still like it :D

Used Honda engines for the first 4 seasons of myteam in last year's game and took two constructors titles and I took one drivers title and Carlos took a title from me in season 3(first time I got defeated by my teammate) so I'd say it's a pretty good starting engine for the new game

for s7 of my my team career, Honda was the the best engine but they were evil and gave their last upgrade to RB first and i had to wait until October for upgrade to come which gave them a power advantage on power circuirts. this had my team, Benetton, i named my team Benetton since Micheal was in the team and RB second Alphatuari at a disadvantage. this was evident at the first round at Bahrain where Micheal and i couldn't chase Verstappen and Perez was bearing down on Michael the whole race but made it to a 3rd place while i was gaining on Max in s1 and 2 but Max pulled away on the straight. so i finished 2nd

I started with Honda and transitioned into Ferrari. For some reason the Honda engine developed super fast and the RB teams were super fast. Then the regulation change made it by far the worst “around 76 with 80 durability when Ferrari was 90 with 90 durability.”

interesting test , are the initial acceleration the same across the engines? for example, 0-200kph and 200-300kph...wonder if there are codings for "acceleration" unique to each engine? or it just depends on the top speed number.

good question, I'm not sure if there is a difference as I didn't think to look into that. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ but I would have thought the acceleration would be the same across all the engine, however i could be wrong

I think It would be cool If u used the 80's Brabham livery for career mode. I will use Honda then as it seems they are the most balanced and would fit the money that the sponsor will give me ( gonna try not to go with the sponsor that has the most money )

I haven't done a video on it yet, but I did briefly look into it but there are quite a lot of moving parts to it, so this might change. But the sponsor that gives you the most money over season 1 is Moon (just make sure you can do the goal bonus) 👍👍

It's all down to your personal preference really and how you want your team to be, but the durability of the Merc is pretty bad at the beginning of my team, so I personally would go for the Honda 👍👍

I have a few careers going and my Renault engine got 2 upgrades before Hungary and now is the top engine in the middle of season 1. I'm not sure if this will happen for everyone. But maybe that's a hidden feature of using the worst theoretical engine built into the game ?

I chose Mercedes the first season...even though I almost went with Honda. I wanted to give honda a shot, but season 2, Renault was 100 in performance and 100 in reliability, while Honda was the worst option unfortunately.

Yeah, it won't be there maximum top speeds as there wasn't any upgrades to the Power Unit, just the base standard top speeds. But I started in the same place for every run and used DRS and ERS to the max so it was a fair test as it could be!! 👍👍

I don´t think it is a mistake because it starts slow having less upgrades as the others, but i really think it will fly past the others with upgrades. More potential in it in other words!

since we have to build up te team through some seasons, there is no problem to start using Renault. You can save some money to invest in departments since the beggining. Also, after 3 or 4 years in game all engines will have praticaly the same stats. At that point, you can go only for sounds or for the cheapper each year. I like to use Renault for the concept of a team that will "struggle first to laugh later" with a long and arduous path to the glory.
