Best Exhaust Setup For Your BMW M2! (VRSF Catless Downpipe Install/Review)

In today's video we get to install and review the VRSF catless downpipe on the M2. The downpipe was easy to install and offered a much improved exhaust sound when paired with the BMW M performance exhaust. The actual power gains will be noticed once we get to tune and dyno the car which will be very soon. Overall I'm pleased with how aggressive the new setup sounds and looking forward to seeing how much power it will make now that we have full bolt-ons. And secondly, can you point me in the direction of any BMW specialty/tuner/repair shops (that you trust) I can safely take my now out of warranty 2018 M2 on the Florida west coast, between Tampa and Brooksville to the north?

Sure it’s fine but still make sure to allow your car to warm up properly

@@carcrazyguysa4059 The purpose of the high idle is to warm the cat up quickly to bring the exhaust system up to emissions spec as quick as possible. If you notice When your high idle cuts out your car engine is still cold. If you no longer have a cat to warm up a high idle start up isn’t necessary. That coupled with the fact that most of the regular operating wear to engines happens from cold starts so if I can reduce the aggressiveness of it I’m all for it 👍🏾

Yes I have other supporting mods although an upgraded intake isn’t required to run a catless downpipe just a tune.

Is your m2 exhaust all stock except that downpipe? I want to change it, but my others are all stock. Does the exhaust sound become louder if I only switch to this downpipe?

I have the M performance catback exhaust on it as well. If you change just your downpipe only there will definitely be a difference in sound. I have them in stock if you’re interested in getting one

Best is subjective. Sounds better with the sport cat imo. Gives it a deeper and smoother tone. Sounds more exotic and refined. The castles is just raspy and loud with little tone. Sounds cheap…which it is…so for me I’d rather spend the extra $250 and not have the embarrassment of explaining no my car isn’t leaking gas I just like the smell of it as I roll up my windows and hope the light turns green.

To each their own I guess, it sounds great to me and that’s what matters, I’ve had the sports cat in the past on my 335i and while nice it wasn’t as rowdy as I wanted it to be. This being affordable makes little difference from any other catless downpipe on the market, but we all have what we prefer and that’s fine👍🏾

The car needs to be tuned to remove the CEL. You can use apps like MHD which requires a Wi-Fi adapter, we have them available on our site as well

Will the DP fit the new 2023 M2 G87?

The new G87 M2 uses a completely different engine (S58), so this downpipe will not work for that application.

Man, this is amazing. I am a dark skin male in the U.S. I am currently working at a game company and building my career, and uploading on my my other channels and buildings those. I discovered another neat little car that rose to the top of my list as my next option. The M240i. It also has the B58. I have been researching for months now. So my next choices are a Supra, M240i, or M4. I am leaning towards the M240i because of the price, B58, and extra space. I have researched the F82 M4 and A90 Supra. Now I have discovered this neat little M240i car with the x-Drive option. I think my next car in the future will be a 2017-2020 M240i because of the price, AWD x-Drive option, it has the B58 engine, and it has the extra car space I like. I don't like the appearance of the next generation of 2 series cars. 2018-2020 are the years I will choose. I have a stock 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8 right now. The car is already becoming rare. Save it for the value, or sell it? Hmmm. 348 horsepower was nice to experience, but I am ready for the next level. I have never been in a turbocharged or supercharged car before.

Yes if you want utilize the full potential of the extra exhaust flow, the car will still be able to drive around if you don’t but you will get a check engine light

Yes any catless downpipe will trigger a check engine light without a tune because the ecu will recognize the catalytic converter is missing. So it’s recommended to run a tune once you go this route otherwise it’s better to get a high flow downpipe instead.
