John from www.growingyour... shares with you the best fertilizer to boost your plant growth in a new garden or an old one.
John will share his favorite fertilizer to get your plants off to a running start after starting them from seed or transplanting.
John will share with you why compost tea is his favorite fertilizer to add microbes to your soil that will break down minerals and organic matter in the soil into plant available nutrients.
Next, John will share how to easily brew your own compost tea using a garden filter, a five gallon bucket, an air pump with air stones and pre-made compost tea.
Finally John will show you how to distribute the compost tea to all your plants in your garden quickly and easily.

John, I want to say thank you for all of the passion you have shared with us. You have been inspiring me to expand my vegetable growing for my family. And this year I am all in. I have added another bed of three 20' long 30" wide beds in a new area, and two 20' long beds that are 42" wide under a trellis structure surrounding our courtyard to grow tomatoes and cucumbers. This Winter, I made my first attempt to start plants from seeds in soil blocks, and most have survived in a low budget grow tent inside my garage here in Wisconsin. But I'm learning from those that didn't do as well. But I'm not stopping there. I have proposed a garden club at the elementary school where I teach, and I'm waiting to hear back from the school improvement committee, hoping to plant a crop that will be mature in the fall when the students return so I can kick off the membership drive with a watermelon festival. I also recently announced that I'm kicking off a spin market garden CSA based on organic gardens in the yards of families of children who have chronic illnesses. My plan is to market garden and sell the produce CSA style, while the family gets a share of the produce every week, encouraging them to consume fresh organic produce in exchange for hosting my gardening space and serving as the pick-up site for a group of members from their neighborhood. That vision came from your encouragement to "get started and plant something." The CSA idea came from reading "The Dirt Cure" by Maya Shetreats-Klein, MD, and from your friend Curtis Stone, author of "The Urban Farmer." Their ideas allowed me to think of how I might help families learn to garden efficiently and organically. I also think that by making part of the garden attractive to kids, I may inspire their child to help me tend to their area of the garden, and use it to introduce them to eating fresh produce from their plants. I teach adapted physical education, so I know a lot of families coping with children who have chronic conditions. I hope that the CSA business makes the project sustainable, and surrounds the family with a supportive group of people who value eating fresh organic produce. This is an idea I would like to see spread like the ideas you have been spreading. So, keep up the great work! I've ordered a tee shirt to help support the two of you and to help promote your channel.

I have more rock then dirt on my property. I dug down about 2 feet and removed all of the rock. Sifted the small rocks out then brought in organic garden soil and compost. I only have a small garden due to all of the prep but it is slowly getting bigger. I put in a garden this year and everything is growing like crazy. I believe this is due to using boogie brew once a month. All of my plants look great even though all of my friends in the area struggle to keep their plants alive. Thanks John for all of your advice!

YOU have single-handedly inspired me to grow my own greens with your yt channel and multiple videos. Last year I grew 1 fruit and 2 veggies in pots..I only yield 2 successful veggies.. but I was fully inspired to try again next year... This year I have 3 raised bed set in my back yard. I am growing multiple veggies and fruits. I never thought I would enjoy gardening as much as I do!

I put a cheap aerator that was made to add Jacuzzi bubbles to a regular bath tub onto a bathtub in my yard. Add water and let it sit and aerate for two days with the compost or steer manure in a mesh bag floating in the bubbles. I also add a little fish fertilizer concentrate. The aeration multiplies the life in the water and the chlorine goes out in that time brewing. my plants love this tea that I make and go crazy on it.

In my experience a normal aquarium pump will work just fine for brewing compost tea. Also, in a pinch when I didn't have a filter I have used aquarium de-chlorination solution in the water before I started brewing. If it works to prevent the chlorine in the water from killing the bacteria in your tank it should work for this purpose as well. Yes, you are adding a chemical, so if philosophically opposed to that I get it, but another option that may come in handy.

I'm inspired by this boogie brew, gardener and plant interaction. The mixing container leaves quite a bit to be desired though. During peak growing season I would be excessively burdened spending time visiting the h d p e bucket. Instead, I'm going to buy a two or three tiers garden fountain and connect a tee and hose bib in line with the pump to facilitate distribution. I will call it the boogie brew fountain of biodiversity. Probably will designate a tier for mineral leaching.

You can use compost tea anywhere on the plant . Where you can grow plants. Anyway in warm weather climate I would really advise making the tea in a cool room . The target temperature is in between 70/75 degrees Fahrenheit. If it gets to hot the water won't hold as much oxygen. Oxygen is what helps the process. If it lacks oxygen you will produce anaerobic bacteria which will kill your plants . Cool water with lots of O2 is aerobic bacteria's ideal climate . The also like sugar. Non sulfuric molasses 1oz per 5 gallon bucket. Black strap molasses no sulfur and the bacteria will be in heaven. Which will make your plants love you Increased growth and taste will be noticeable

and for compost tea either use REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER, RAIN WATER OR PURIFIED WATER. those little hose mourned filters are not really filtering the water enough and there is still some loss of bacteria from residual chlorine and chloramine in the water. even with that filter I would still let my water airate for 2 days. FOR COMPOST TEA

I can't find those compost tea kits in my area, so I use vermicompost. I activate the compost with molasses (I used sugar before I searched the subject) plus sea-weed extract (cold-pressed sea weeds). To my surprise, molasses are very expensive for no apparent reason. What other replacements are good enough? Is it the nutrients content which makes it so popular? If it's only the sugar, then would sea-weed extract compensate for the lack of other minerals in white sugar?

I feel like John is aged somewhere between 30 and 50. I'll be damned if I know this guy's age. He eats so healthy, I wouldn't be surprised if he's like 60 lol

Chris Hansen nah no need . . the anaerobic phobia isn't healthly.. once you dump the tea on the plants and soil ,the anaerobic bacteria die due to air contact

Love the video content overall, I would like you to start and stay on script for your topic discussion. We understand most of what you say from all your videos previously. Streamline your videos to 2-3 minutes maximum. This will draw more traffic as you are meeting new audiences by streamlined message delivery. I almost left your site for others due to the length and message gets lost as you talk 2-5 topics when your video talks about one. Streamline and make another video if needed to discuss other topics.

jJst use the KZbin HD setting button to change the speed to 1.25 or 1.5. I like all the info but am looking for the point as well since I've seen them all(mostly). This helps me a lot.

Erika and Valerie ,No ONE can say anything MEANINGFUL in a short time ! wafflers are wafflers given a short or a long time . If I don't have time to listen properly, or there is a part I don't need to hear .....GUESS WHAT !!!!! IT IS WITHIN MY OWN CONTROL AND CHOICE TO ..........A ) stop it and resume later, as many times as I like !!!...........B) fast forward or go back over AS I SO WISH .......Nicky is on the ball, the dumbing down lobby, must not be allowed to continue to prevail, AUTONOMY IS GOOD : THE POLICING OF ' OTHERS ' IS BAD .

I'm an organic medical cannabis cultivator and I swear by compost tea . Especially for indoor cultivating. It really increases the microbiome of your soil . When growing with organic soil the web of life is the backbone of nutrient delivery.

they add HOCL i the water and it reacts to form differrents ions wich then react with bad things to produces chloramines wich then react back into chlorine ion if there is enough HOCl ( chloramines smell like what we think is chlorine but chlorine does not smell anything so when your water smells ''chlorine'' it's has not enough chlorine in it)
