Best Field of View (FOV) for Warzone? Affected Vs. Independent ADS Comparison

In this video, we compare what the best field of view, or FOV, is for Call of Duty Warzone. We also look at the difference between affected and independent ADS in regards to FOV.
At the end of the day, it is preference for what the best FOV is for you, but I'm going to show why I think 120 FOV, affected ADS, is the best option for Warzone.

I just made the switch to pc yesterday! Love all my options. Currently have 105 fov independent. I did notice the large zoom affect! I agree it was disorienting and my close quarters game was off. Tonight when I get home. I'm switching to 110 and affected. Will give it a go!

Playing 120 Independent gives you a bonus “zoom” without hurting your ADS. For example, a 2x scope on Independent has more zoom than a 3x scope on affected...without hurting ADS time

Great video, btw. Is there any difference between 1440p or 1080p with fov of 120. I play under every very high settings, 1440p @ 170 fps. I feel like everything is more tiny than 1080p. I have a hard time spotting enemies mid to long range. 120 fov ain't for me, but I was just curious. I comfortably, I like 90 fov.

If anything, 1440p would help you see smaller targets more than 1080p. You might want to consider trying 120 fov but independent, if you like playing on 90 fov.

This is a great video. I actually change my FOV and ADS settings depending on my loadout. 120/ affected for sniper + pistol or SMGs and 100/ independent for AR + shotties. It's works well for me.

Should explain monitor size too. I have a 17.3" panel on my gaming laptop. Higher ADS is probably better on larger monitors. Also, the higher FOVs are probably worse with Independent, since the difference is more between the default FOV for ADS and your FOV setting.

I was playing long time on pc but at 80fov and I noticed I lose too many close fights because I don't see very much everything is so zoomed in at 80fov I switched today to 105 fov and I definitely noticed I am wining more close gun fights because I see more maybe little bit harder to spot enemies at range but I don't know should I switch to affected? Im currently at independent 105 fov I like that extra zoom for range but I noticed It can discard me a little on close

I think monitor size is key and maybe age lol. On my 27” I had trouble spotting people in corners, windows, etc so I recently bought it down to 110/independent and I feel like I spot much quicker. Yes the recoil feels a little more jumpy but I think it’s more valuable to spot faster. I kind of wish I went 25” 1080p…

Fov does not have any affect on sniping from what I’ve noticed. But it can make other guns feel different in terms of sensitivity

You didn't talk about the most important thing, why FOV exists: If you're closer to a screen or monitor that takes a larger part of your vision, meaning the sides of your screen should result as a natural continuation of your vision, meaning your view should be a little bit more stretched compared to being far away on a couch. Most consoles are meant to be played from far away, that's why they usually have a fixed lower FOV value, because your vision only has a fev degrees taken by your tv, but when you're on a monitor, sitting at a desk, your periphral vision is taken by the monitor so you need a higher FOV to make the game feel more natural. Many many people get nausea from FPS games for this very reason (me included) if FOV is not set properly. Your brain might be tricked into thinking your periphral vision is distorted if you're sitting too close with a low FOV and will induce nausea to make you vomit whatever poisoned food you might have ingested that is causing the distortion. FOV is mostly a comfort option, more than anything else.

All your points are excellent to make, but fov in warzone is far more than a comfort option. It provides significant competitive advantages like seeing enemies you would otherwise miss on the edge of your screen, or making recoil easier to control. There’s a reason that any large warzone streamer or top placing tournament players all play on a FOV atleast above 100. For the casual, console, TV playing gamer, 80 FOV may be fine, and yes may cause less motion sickness. But playing on a monitor like myself, decreasing my FOV would make me sick. And many console players do in fact play on monitors (especially with next gen consoles supporting up to 100 fps). I appreciate your thoughts, but I’d highly disagree that I missed the most important thing. Majority of people looking into FOV are looking for competitive advantages to improve their gameplay. I think I certainly could have included the motion sickness idea in the video though, as it is relevant for some people.

@@TCaptainX So, a wider FOV makes players "feel" as if they experience less recoil while actually experiencing.. exactly the same recoil. Additionally, no change in FOV means no "perception zoom" effect. Under Affected, assuming 120, 105, etc., no FOV change occurs upon ADS. What is the FOV that gets independently selected on ADS when using Independent? 90? Default? 80% of whatever user selects for FOV? My sense is we do not really understand how Independent works. If I choose 90/Independent is there any difference from 90/Affected? How about with 60 FOV? Will Independent FOV-zoom out from 60 to 90? Also, the choice of optics/sights/zoom lense for each loadout is a big piece of Warzone. Certain combinations may synergize with certain FOV-Independent/Affected combos. Feels like a lot of potential content to showcase how these things actually work, perhaps.

So I believe about 80 fov is the default where you wouldn’t know a difference if affected/independent. And yes, affected will never have a zoom effect no matter your fov. I wish there was a setting to set your fov at 120 but then set your zoom fov at another number also, like 110 for example so that it would only be a slight zoom I have no idea what 60’fov but independent would look like, that’d be very interesting but also would be very hard to play on that low of a FOV lol. I was playing entire time on 80FOV on PC i dunno i just liked it a lot more than higher fov, Today i gave a shot to 110 FOV and i do have trouble spotting enemies i am a lot more snappier thats for sure but long range fights with this FOV can be problematic only in terms of actually seeing the enemy from distance. I run at the moment on 110 FOV Independent still trying it out... I am 2.11 KD in warzone and thats by playing 80 FOV 😂 on PC and 2.38 in Mw multi and 2.8 in CW... Its very hard however than switching back to my prefer 80 it feels like i am sick when i turn around xd. However i had to up my Ads Sens to 1.15 by default its 1.00 it felt too slow when i switched to 110FOV independent...

I’d recommend bumping up slowly then, perhaps to 90 for a few weeks, and then maybe to 100. You certainly don’t have to play at 120 but there’s a lot of benefits of wider fov

But in multi it kinda feels weird just not right in some gunfights. Just use 103 for aim training. Trust :) you can check out the revosect discord and ask there, but for someone who’s pretty knowledgeable in aim training 103 is an ideal mark, as long as you play on relative on and not legacy for ads mouse sensitivity mode

Hi, recently moved to PC a few months ago and after feeling comfortable now with Kb & M trying to fine tune some other settings. I'm playing on an ultrawide at 2k - around 115 FoV feels super nice for me in close combat but players in the distance are like ants unless using a scope. Do you just get used to this, or you always looking at a scope or sniper etc to compensate? Edit- obvs using Affected also

That is the big trade off of affected fov. I would say you do definitely get used to it over time though. When I run my primary AR I almost always have a 3x scope on them. I dislike iron sights a lot in this game when I play affected because of the targets being small. You can always try independent and see how you like it. I actually don’t mind independent for mid to long range but I dislike it up close. Hope that helps!

Yes definitely viable! At the end of the day it’s preference. Maybe consider double your DPI and dividing game sens in half. Might help create a bit smoother of movements (your sens will be the same though if you do that )
