DOOM (2016) on Switch may not look good as it does on PS4 Pro but damn I love being able to play it on the go anywhere I want.

I have now owned Doom2016 on a base PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox1X, and switch And I have to say I notice an upgrade every time I play in 4K 60fps But I never really notice a downgrade when I play on switch despite it being 720p 30fps with muddier textures It still plays smooth, it still looks gorgeous. It's a great port and a great portable title. I just wouldn't choose the docked mode as a preferred way to play, the motion controls aren't quite right enough to warrant it. But I use the switch portably about 99% of the time anyway.

Yeah it's insane that a game of this quality is on a portable system. The textures aren't as good but it doesn't matter. I can now play it while doing a poo, or on the train, or in my bed. I've got it on PC and I barely play that version anymore, I just play the switch one. And the new releases of the first 3 doom games is fantastic. I've never properly played through them and beat them until now.

Richard Barth wish I kept my ps2. Don’t even remember what happened to it. Saying that, I remember getting stuck on Black. Basically, I think Black came out before health re gen in FPS and I remember being on super low health and I couldn’t find any health packs, kept insta dying and just gave up.

@@yogaflame4128 it was stylish, it had one of those unique flavor that made video games very special back then. Developer were open minded and didn't shy away from experimenting. Dark atmosphere, fantasy themed weapon, classes. Gameplaywise - not very good. First person and melee combat does not combine well.

The multiplayer aspect of turok 2 was the seller for me. As you guys said, the switch has everything but shooters, specifically splotscreen shooters. I was really hoping turok 2 would have that splitscreen two player party mode. I miss those days. Not too many games have splitscreen anymore.

I can't justify the price for Turok when Doom 1-3 combined cost the same price. I want Serious Sam 1st and 2nd encounter! Doom 2016 is probably the best of these still to play on the fly, Wolf2 is another impressive port but being so story heavy I don't think it's the best portable title. Impressive still though.

Try to get used to the gyro controls, once you get the hang of it, it quickly becomes far superiors to sticks and almost as good as a mouse/keyboard.

Have you tried a grip case? I was the same and then bought a cheap $10 grip case from insignia grip. Total game changer! Can’t play without it now.

@@HAL1138 I have something like a case on there, it just goes around the two controllers to helpgive better grip but I still feel like the joystick themselves are too short and hard to control compared to the Xbox or Playstation. Honestly though I don't care thatmuch. I use my Xbox or Playstation 4 FPS and triple A games and I use my switch for Nintendo exclusives or indie games.

I've only played Apocryph on PC and it's a ok at best experience if I'm being generous. It feels like one of those forgettable Hexen/Heretic knock offs from the 90's rather than other modern retro FPS titles like Dusk or Ion Fury which feels every bit as good as the games they are inspired by...in fact at times it felt like a mobile game. Anyway if you liked what you've seen then get it at a severe discount, its currently on Steam right now at 75% off at under £3 if you want to waste a hour or so and never return to it

I actually bought Modern Combat Blackout the other day and I like it. I don't care much for Black Ops 4 and actually still play Black Ops 2 on PS3 more than any COD on PS4/X1. Modern Combat still gets players in Team Deathmatch ("Battle") online. I mean, we're talking an average of 3 players and 2 bots per team on weekdays with a spike on Friday nights or Saturdays when full lobbies are more likely to happen. Its fun regardless of mostly bots or players and does feel like an early COD with a little less polish... but COD lacks a lot of polish in the first place so... there's that. I've owned it less than a week and only a few times was it JUST bots. I didn't play or own the game when it had problems in the beginning of its Switch release so I wasn't burnt by the 20 dollar purchase and encourage anyone to buy it if you want the closest "COD on the go" experience. I'm hoping the game snowballs and gains more players since its recent fixes.

That Apocryph game was a bit disappointing. The controls are messed up, it seems impossible to run straight forward, you're always drifting. I've tried using the Pro controller, but that doesn't help much. Maybe only get it if it's on sale. And maybe its possible I've checked some box in the settings that has messed up the controls, I'm not sure. I didn't play much of it because it just was frustrating with the controls as they are

Does FPS have to have a strong presence on the switch? In my opinion no, but someone will want it. There are some good options here, but the depth in comparison of platforms, bullet hells, and rogue likes is vastly different.

well you missed out as a couple of months ago it was part of an eshop sale for £24.99 I think. i got the US copy when I was in Florida couple years ago and that cost me $67! 😬 Worth it though as it's a fantastic game

I enjoy playing games whenever I go to places. A good laptop's graphics is better than Switch's but the Switch is more comfortable to play it. I do wish I at least get a decent gaming pc or laptop one day but at least the Switch have some great titles.
