The MEGA line is the best value line in RCs. When they include the BLX slipper in the 4s this spring it wi be an unbeatable value! Congratulations on the win. This is my 2nd favorite rc only behind the Big Rock. The Big Rock is so durable.

@@RoadsideRC I have found it to be so durable. It's also fast. 50 mph and I can say the negatives are body clip retainers break because clips are to Big for holes. It needs roof skids. And the tires are ok but lack great traction. They are vented. I think it's perfect for beginners and still lots of fun for any 1 else. I even put a MAX8 COMBO in. A 40mm motor is biggest I would recommend but #M2C does have the new stronger motor mount. I ran the Kraton 4s powerplant in it to. I found stock Spektrum was just as good. You can't go wrong with this truck. M2C has the 17mm hexes and use those with some 2.8 and you will have a monster!

Here you go: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIDEeaCtg5WeiM0 This is a special preview for you - the video will go public later this week. :) I put this GoolRC setup in the truck...but I can't recommend it. The 60A esc just is not powerful enough for the truck, and it has very poor power from a stop. I plan to swap the ESC for a higher amp Hobbywing unit and see what happens.

I've heard the best upgrade to the Granite boost is to upgrade the ESC to one that works with 3s battery. Supposed to get another 5-10 mph. I want to keep the stock receiver and transmitter, but the receiver is a combo with the ESC. Any input you could provide regarding which part to buy for the ESC and how to do it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there! You should be able to bind that controller to one of the standard spektrum receivers. Like this one: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=el&merchant_id=4b85b2b7-558e-4304-89fc-54958c8f47f0&website_id=caf4cba5-8e5f-43be-93b7-934f1a36d50d&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amainhobbies.com%2Fspektrum-rc-sr215-2channel-dsmr-sport-surface-receiver-spmsr215%2Fp865856 But honestly - the receiver alone is $35. For just a little more money, you could get a better transmitter and receiver combo. I recently tested this one, and it does GREAT, especially for the price: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=el&merchant_id=4b85b2b7-558e-4304-89fc-54958c8f47f0&website_id=caf4cba5-8e5f-43be-93b7-934f1a36d50d&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amainhobbies.com%2Fhobby-porter-ct01-8channel-2.4ghz-telemetry-radio-black-hp029.l0701%2Fp1488124 I have a full video on how to set it up. Not hard. Then, you can just buy cheap receivers and bind this one controller to up to 8 vehicles.

I’ve been drooling over the BLX version but having seen this I might go Mega and upgrade over time (money & my experience). I’m getting my RC legs back after 30 years away and have started back with TAMIYA but Armma is the next obvious step up...
@RoadsideRC3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, going straight BLX would probably be a better choice. If you are really concerned about too much speed at first, the controller actually has a speed limiting switch on it!

@@vinnyavalanche thanks for the tip. Just had a quick look and can see they have some decent chops. £160 though and from what I see 1/10 handle far better on more terrain. TBH I’m a life long Tamiya fan and that building of the kit is epic for me. But as with the Arena’s I also get it that you can do allot of upgrades / wrenching to have some of that feel 👍

Still don't understand what "brushless ready" means. There are still differences with the mega v3 snd blx vs that add up in price, not just the electronics. Am I wrong? These are the differences I think: ARA311032 - ALUMINUM MOTOR MOUNT SET ARA311033 - SLIPPER CLUTCH MAINTENANCE SET AR310881 - SLIPPER SHAFT ARA310998 - 15T 0.8MOD SAFE-D5 PINION GEAR ARRMA GRANITE 4X4 3S BLX - TIE RODS & TURNBUCKLES (FRONT/REAR ARA4302V3(optional..but the plastic will break) AR310883 - MOTOR HEATSINK(optional) AR390289 - 4X4 BLX MOTOR FAN SET(optional)
@RoadsideRC9 ай бұрын
None of that really impacts whether you can upgrade to brushless or not. This truck you see in the video has been running brushless ever since this video, without issues.
@pizzomedia72619 ай бұрын
@@RoadsideRC good to know your experience. Thanks for sharing. I've just read on threads that those parts should be upgraded as well to hold up to having more power. Ultimately like you've said, better to go straight to a blx to save money.

@RoadsideRC3 жыл бұрын
Once it pops out, it is never the same again. You have to buy a new one. Check your slipper clutch also, it might be too tight. Even on 4S, this driveshaft does not break.

Red Cat volcano brushles ou Arrma brushed similar price what is BEST?
@RoadsideRC3 жыл бұрын
I am not a fan of the Volcano for long term use. It is really fun out of the box, but it wears down quickly and is not very durable. This Granite has been VERY durable, and a brushless swap later makes it great!

Nice video. I'm thinking about getting this or the Losi SCT. Can you please tell me the pros and cons of having a 4wd vs 2wd? The Losi is 2wd, but it comes with metal gear box and metal plates in the front and rear. This would be my first RC car for me and my 10 years old son. The price difference isn't that much ($189 for the Losi SCT vs $229 for this). Both can be upgraded to Brushless too and lipo compatible out of the box. Thank you so much for your time!
@RoadsideRC3 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear you are getting into the hobby with your kiddo! That is what got me started! 4WD is MUCH easier to drive. 2 reasons: 1) when on a loose surface, acceleration does not immediatley cause the car to go sideways as it spins the tires. This is especially helpful for our younger drivers. 2) in-air control. When in the air, a tap of the brakes bring the nose down - a blip of the throttle brings the nose up. Size of tires, and # of them spinning impacts how well this works. 2WD vehicles just don't have enough mass to really make this work. That means, once sent into the air...you are just along for the ride (and crash). 4WD gives you the ability to "save" the landing by controlling the atitude of the vehicle in the air. Needless to say, I highly recommend going 4WD.
@FRamirez1A3 жыл бұрын
@@RoadsideRC thank you so much for your explanation. I didn't understand what air control was. I'll get the 4wd!!!! Thanks for your time.

I got one for each of my daughters. They’re fun but they shut off when they get hot, which happens fast sometimes. Anyone else have this problem?
@RoadsideRC3 жыл бұрын
I honestly never had this problem. Is it the brushed or brushless? Try checking the gear mesh. Pull that motor assembly out and see how tight the motor is meshed pinion -> spur. They might both be on the tight side. Arrma has a reputation for that happening.

But you didn't mention the 7 hours it takes to charge the battery 7 hours hello 7 hours One battery
@RoadsideRC3 жыл бұрын
You are correct - that is because I never used the provided charger. Since I have other chargers, I just use those. Getting a good charger is a key piece of equipment for this hobby. Rarely does a vehicle even come with a charger, so I don't even consider it.
@samcrow10713 жыл бұрын
