I had a janitorial service and a restaurant back in the 70s and 80s. The only soap/cleaner I used to mop floors with was plain ol' Tide and hot water. Absolutely the best for mopping up grease and dirt! 🎯

Been doing this hack for years! Tide actually sells packets of powdered mop detergent for industrial use -I don’t know if it’s available to the public but it is bad ass as well ! Tide (laundry soap in general) actually suspends, and holds dirt, for a brief period of time. That is why, you never want to soak dirty clothes, once you add detergent, and you do not see a wash cycle, more than 16-18 minutes . If you let clothes or floors sit and soak with detergent on them, the dirt will be released from the soap and adhere, back to floor or clothes. We own an appliance repair company, and I thought, I knew how to clean until I married my husband lol. The techs actually receive training on this kind of stuff, to properly instruct customers, on how to best use their machines.

Wow ! Today I cleaned my large kitchen floor with tide and it came out beautifully. My floor is ceramic tile, so I was able to pre- slosh one side at a time. Then I went back and mopped. Then I hit the toughest spots in the grout with my magic eraser. I did rinse because my used Tide water was like mud. The second half I mopped, and before I went back into the tide water I rinsed my mop head with clean water. I couldn’t believe all the dirt this released ! Thank-you !

I would worry about using this method on Luxury Vinyl Plank. I found out the hard way to ONLY use warm water and white vinegar on them. When you use any kind of cleaning product, it gets ingrained into the LVP, and when you mop, you're basically just spreading the dirt around. My feet were turning black despite me mopping all the time. I had a professional cleaning lady come in and even she couldn't get my floors clean. I ended up tasking my very strong step-son to use a sturdy brush and clean them that way. I called the installers and was told that you can't use any type of cleaning product. Just good old warm water and vinegar.
