Great tips for anyone who isn't a audiophile. Also helps audiophiles too. Very easy to understand and digest. One thing you guys should consider in future videos is audio tweaks some make a massive difference in all audio and even picture quality. They can make your system high end even your tv. My normal LCD tv nearly looks like an oled it's insane and my audio for everything is nuts. No need to spend thousands just a few low hundreds.

Awesome video. I would like to add one tip i learned from Andrew Robinson. Put the subwoofer in the place you would want to sit in front of the tv or speakers. Now play anything with bass and move around the room. Wherever you feel like you are getting the best bass response, just mark that spot. And place your subwoofer there.

For being a hifi/home-theater store I do really love this channel. Good advices and its not always "beginners advices". I've been doing home-theater for 20 years and I am still learning, but tips like this is really good. I allways need a reminder on stuff like this! If you ever expand to Sweden, let me know! :) I'll be your first customer or even owner of that shop ;)

When you press mute and you can hear background signal noise. That's your cables telling you "please shield me"" the more cables I shield, the quieter my room becomes! In fact the last group of cables I shielded were my HDMIs and lo and behold the room became quieter yet again. Silence is Golden.

Do you have to have the center speaker center with the room or the chairs? My front row of theater chairs are offset with the room, there on the right side with the steps on the left.

I have a LG CX - JBL 9.1 Soundbar and Apple TV 4K(2nd Gen) connected into the soundbar then EARC from Soundbar to TV. The Apple TV will have popping/crackling when changing hdmi inputs. I have the TV settings Bitstream - EARC on - Passthrough. I’ve read to keep it at passthrough as that is best for the soundbar audio. I noticed that with my Xbox series x when I have to Auto it won’t detect 5.1 and 7.1 and other audio settings. When I put it on passthrough it detects most of them except DTS since LG CX doesn’t do DTS X. My question is, the popping and also my content not playing properly on Apple TV like it distorted and audio is off like dialogue is gone but other sounds are ok.. etc audio issues. I tend to just rewind and it will get fixed, not sure if this is cause of the EARC being new and Apple TV not being up to date on it? Should I just keep it at Auto and avoid all those issues or will the soundbar be ok if I keep it at passthrough? Just don’t want to damage the speakers. Thank you again and sorry for the long message.
@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice 3 жыл бұрын
If you have your sources connected to the JBL 9.1, there is no need for eARC. You might try changing the LG to just regular ARC, we have seen other people cure problems this way with that particular TV. Thanks for watching
@ToniArcadia
@ToniArcadia 3 жыл бұрын
@@AudioAdvice thank you so much for the input. I do have the Apple TV to JBL but the rest are connected to TV since JBL soundbar only has 1 HDMI input besides the EARC HDMI.

I Recently bought the Samsung premiere Lspt7 and i am sort of regretting it, i hadn't thought of the center speaker placement at the time. Now the speaker is about the same height as the UST has to be to give me the perfect picture for the size of my screen.
@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is a great point about UST projectors, you will have to find a cabinet that allows you to put the center channel under the projector. Thanks for watching

@@AudioAdvice Could I or Rather Should i mount it on the ceiling to give me the room for the center channel below the screen? and if so what would be a good strong adjustable ceiling mount? all the ones I've seen so far are sort of cheap looking and not something i'd trust to hold 20lbs.
@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice 2 жыл бұрын
@@workernori You can, but it will be extremely tedious. We did it once with that projector and used a very high end Future Automation mount that allowed for tiny adjustments in all dimensions. If you are interested in that mount, please send an email to web@audioadvice.com and we can take it from there. It is a 1k+ mount.

I'm curious on how far one would have to go with speaker placement if you have something like a Sony HT-A9. 😅

The one thing I would add that I didn't hear mentioned in any of these tip videos, is to have reference material! Whether it's a scene from a movie, or a "go-to" song that you know inside and out, having a reference point is crucial in letting you know if the changes you made had a positive or negative effect. I know this doesn't exactly fall into the category of "calibration", but I still think it's one of the most important elements when trying to get the best sound out of your home theater or audio system!

I’ve checked everywhere on the Internet and cannot find how to measure Dolby Atmos overhead speaker distance. How do you measure that with a tape measure? Is it a diagonal line from each speaker to the MLP? Or do you point a laser up at the ceiling from the MLP and measure the distance from each ceiling speaker to that point? Anyone have any tips?
@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice 3 жыл бұрын
We normally use a laser measuring device and just hold it at the ear position of the MLP and point at the center of each Atmos speaker to get the distances. Thanks for watching

The lip sync part is wrong, as the lip sync can also be source material problem from my experience, so setting it at the device level is inexact
@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice 2 жыл бұрын
We agree with you, but we hardly ever see a source with a way to adjust the audio delay and luckily, most modern home theater receivers let you adjust it for each input. We wish the streaming boxes would let you adjust it for each streaming channel as there even seems to be tiny differences there as well. Thanks for watching and commenting
