To be honest, I have never seen any of these GAELCO games myself in the arcade, I grew up in 1980s, played arcafe in mid 80s, 1990s-early 2000. GAELCO games look incredibly awesome !

No tenía ni idea de que estos juegos eran españoles!! Cuanto tiempo pasé jugando a los dos World Rally, al Target Hits y a los dos Thunder Hoops!!! La altisima calidad de los juegos, unido a que las voces estaban en inglés (obvio para vender internacionalmente ) hicieron que nunca lo sospechara hasta hoy!!! Gran video y gran canal! Gaelco made some pretty good games, especially for there time. It’s a shame that they stopped making them which I’m guessing is to do with their last game they released gaelco championship tuning race. It wasn’t a terrible game but certainly wasn’t the best. I think it was trying to compete with Sega initial d and Namco wanna midnight and that was back in 2005. My local arcade had it but it wasn’t there long surprisingly.

Prior to seeing this video, my only knowledge of Gaelco was of the Thunder Hoop series, and even my knowledge of that series was minimal. After seeing this video, I'm definitely going to play some of their arcade games on MAME, that's for sure. Their Ridge Racer series knockoff, Speed Up, looks like it would have made a really good Dreamcast game. Thanks for posting and sharing.

Smashing Drive looked really familiar to me and I see it got XBox/GameCube/GBA ports. I was more of a console gamer and very few of these others seem like they landed on consoles at least in the US.

Eso va a depender mucho de la versión del emulador que utilices. Lo que te puedo recomendar es que descargues la versión del mame 0.198 y uses las roms de la página platemu en donde están todas las roms funcionales para esa version. Así es como he logrado jugar al juego que tu quieres.

Some of these games have very misleading titles. Totally thought Thunder Hoops was going to be some unique basket ball game or some thing similar to Night into Dreams or a space ship flying though hoops and Alligator Hunt isn't about hunting gators.

They were available and very common in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, ... But hardly ever exported to America or Asia, because there were stronger competitors. Only World Rally and Radikal Bikers had woldwide distribution.

A pesar que llevo jugando videojuegos desde principios de los 80´s me ví tremendamente sorprendido al enterarme que existió una empresa de la que nunca oí hablar como Gaelco, y ahora que he revisado todo su catálogo no me sorprende no haberla conocido, primero, porque en este lado del charco Europa no tenía ninguna presencia en los arcades, y segundo, porque en su catálogo no hallé nada medianamente interesante (con el perdón de los españoles) solo clónicos absurdos que tomaban ideas ya vistas antes. Alligator Hunt: ¿Qué sentido tiene crear un clónico de Cabal y meter a un niño en una patineta que destruye naves espaciales en un mundo post-apocalíptico?... NINGUNO. Thunder Hoop: ¿Qué sentido tiene crear un clon de Contra donde manejas a un remedo de Son Gokú matando personajes Kawaii?... NINGUNO. Biomechanical Toy: Otro clon más de Contra. Los juegos de deportes sí que son rescatables, pero ya en esa época en Japón y EEUU se programaban cosas con mejores gráficos. Esta compañía me recuerda mucho a las Europeas Titus, Ocean, Infogrames, y a las estadounidenses THQ, Gameteek, Mindscape, Spectrum Holobyte, que intentaban por todos los medios hacerse un hueco en la industria y lanzaban mucha morralla sin correr mayores riesgos, el tiempo provocó que, o arriesgaran más, o las absorvieran por otras más grandes o derechamente desaparecieran del mapa. Aún así España es de los países que nunca se rindió y ahora tienen cientos de desarrolladoras de renombre, aunque a mi me encantaría que tuvieran una empresa grande capaz de competir codo a codo con las más conocidas del sector.
